It was a good omen.

When I walked into the lounge Margo Valiante was singing “Angel from Montgomery”-- one of my favorite songs.

I saw him from across the room as he stood to greet me. His “wow” was the answer to my “hello”.

We hugged and then settled in at a spot overlooking the lake. Our knees grazed under the table as we talked for an hour, then two. He pulled his chair closer to mine as the people next to us grew louder and after a few minutes he pulled my chair closer, too. He asked good questions and listened intently. He smiled. His eyes were dancing. He liked what I had to say. And to everything he said my heart cried out: yes, yes, yes.

He fingered the embroidered hem of my dress and said, “this dress…..thank you for wearing this dress.”

I excused myself for a minute and when I returned to the table he stood up.

We walked outside and down to the lake. I stood at the railing, watching the moonlight reflected on the lake and feeling the breeze on my skin and his hips pressed into my back. His arms wrapped around me and I leaned back and felt his heart beating fast.

I closed my eyes and smiled and smiled and smiled.

Please tell me that all of this really happened and turn me into a believer once again. I loved your tight, clean writing. You said a whole lot in a small space. Brava.
Thanks, Janie. Me too:)

Cartouche: yes, gorgeous. it really, really happened. and he really stood up when I returned to the table. his mama taught him manners:)
Yay. Maybe he's a keeper. I like what he said about your dress. I like the whole thing!
Thanks, Lea. If you remember my dating hell story from the beginning of the summer then you know how happy and relieved I felt to meet this sweetheart.

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, man. How I love that part. Looooooooove it.

Very very happy to read this one.
((((((Waking))))))))
I knew you would love this one, girl:)
So very, very cool - I agree with JK and cartouche. They really nailed it.
Wish I had spoken those words myself. About time someone of the male persuasion got their senses together. You deserve it.
this is fabulous. i'm so happy for you!!! you deserve more more more of this. love love love
Heaven. But it really happened? So nice.
Thanks ((Owl))

Thanks, ((Sensus)). Very sweet.

Thank you, Teddylove. It warms my heart to see you here. You deserve all good things, too.

Ma: Only my haiku's are fiction. This happened for reals:)
I'm very happy for you. You deserve this.
Awwww, sweet! I hope he's a good one (and not just playing one on OS).
Robin: i love that we were commenting on each other's posts at the same time. that feels good:)

Verbal: thanks for coming by. this fella is still unfolding for me but he is very real and sincere and not a product or bi-product of OS.

OE: you are a dear, dear person. i knew you'd feel that way.
This is SO cool! (I like the part about the hem, too.) Romantic, but not phony romantic, polite, but not nerdy polite, heart beating fast, strong arms, a listener & dancing eyes. YES! And the song -- definitely a good omen!
I would like to have a Sunday night similar.

Yes, please!
Well while my first reaction was hurt, jealousy and simple rage..They do say that one must let go and if they come back from a Sunday night with a man who knows when to stand up, it was never meant to be after all..

*sniff*
Suzie: If Conway Twitty were playing when I walked in then I would have walked out:)

Anni, where have you been, girl? I want a night like this for you, too.

Aw, Erik. If this doesn't pan out then I'll buy a parka and head north to find you.
Oh yes! Indeed. And doesn't it feel grand? Here's to meetings, and manners, and more... :-)
