Bio
Once upon a time this writer was a reporter/photographer and columnist for a large weekly newspaper in New York City, worked at the Center for Publishing at N.Y.U., worked at Kirkus for one crazy semester and eventually was an editor at Scholastic. After two very troubling years on cable television in New York City, this writer was voted off the island once and for all. Today this writer is a full-time student and substitute teacher living in reduced circumstances. She is ever hopeful and even though her stomach may rumble from time to time, she is usually somewhat reasonably well fed. Most importantly this writer is a recovering or former New Yorker, (recovering seems more apt), who is quite happily transplanted in Wisconsin. She blooms where she is planted.

Fortunately I was invited to have dinner at my sister's home last night.  I had a lovely dinner there last night.  We were celebrating the birthday of their eldest child.  After dinner their youngest asked me something funny.  My niece asked me if anyone has been reading what I have been writing.

I answered honestly.  I have no idea if anyone has really been reading what I am writing.  I know how many people are clicking here every day, but as to whether or not they are actually reading it, who knows.

Then I told my niece that so many people are so busy these days, like her Mom and Dad.  My sister for instance has to find time just to use the bathroom every day.  My sister is very busy.  I had been convinced that my sister and brother-in-law had not read a single word I had written until my niece told me that they are reading, every day.  Apparently my writing has also been much discussed.

How flattering!  The only other daily that my sister and brother-in-law read every day, day in and day out, is The New York Times.  In fact, they both pour over it and examine it as if it were the Dead Sea Scrolls.  They often quote interesting things they have read from the newspaper.  It makes for very entertaining dinner conversation.

So I am still wondering.  Is anyone out there actually reading this?  If you are, then please post a comment below.  I look forward to getting to know you.

I read your diary every day. I think I'm hooked. :)
Thank you. How nice! I am hoping my diary will be like one of those potato chip books. You can't read just one page. You have to read another, then another, and so it goes on and on. :)
Thank you! It's good to know you read every word. I write and then read every word too. :) Are there any other teachers reading this?
I'm guessing Diary's not your real name, either.
Kate, you are too funny. Now that we are getting acquainted please call me Hopeful. :)
