Meme Meme Meme Firsts

Rate: 9 Flag

Leeandra Nolting brought up a meme and I thought I would run with it because I don't feel like doing what I should be doing.

1. Who was your FIRST prom date? DJ.  Lovely gentleman.  I learned much from him, had a great time.  We looked awesome.  I love prom dresses and spiky heel shoes.

2. Who was your FIRST love and do you still talk with him/her?  I would not risk embarassing her by mentioning that here.  She was a nice lady and I believe that she's gone on to be a wonder woman of the first order.

3. What was your FIRST alcoholic drink? Beer!

4. What was your FIRST job? Summer Stock Theater - tech, building, lights, music, costumes, gopher, concessions, babysitter to the stoned and drunk.

5. What was your FIRST car? Oh, my baby.  1979 robin's egg blue Mercury Monarch.  The car that would never say die, taught me about spark plugs, carburators, and what it feels like to go 95MPG.

6. Who was the FIRST person to text you today?  BaronessEkat.  My ladies are out camping and I'm going to join them later on today.  It's still raining there, so I'm not rushing.

7. Who is the FIRST person you thought of this morning? The chihuahua who was snoring into my nose.

8. Who was your FIRST grade teacher? Mrs McCaffery.

9. When and where did you go on your FIRST ride on an airplane?  I was about five, we flew to Florida.  I was worried and rubbed a hole in the felt ear of my little yellow plushie bear.

10. Who was your FIRST best friend & do you still talk?  Well, the person I thought was my best friend at the time was a very very good friend.  Looking back I can see how another person was in many ways a best of all possible friends for me.  It's funny how the perspective changes.

11. Where was your FIRST sleepover? Sorry, don't remember.

12. Who was the FIRST person you talked to today?  Katie.  Camping.  Rain.  Bummer.

13. Whose wedding were you in the FIRST time?  My Godmother Pam's wedding.  I don't think I remember it, but I've seen pictures.

14. What was the FIRST thing you did this morning? Remove the Chihuahua snout from my nose.

15. What was the FIRST concert you ever went to? Die Walkure, Metropolitan Opera.

16. FIRST tattoo? Upper right thigh, blackwork, fine line, the conjoined angel design from the Jesus Christ Superstar logo.

17. FIRST piercing? Ears. At Carl's Co.  With my Mom.

18. FIRST foreign country you've been to? Belgium.

19. FIRST movie you remember seeing in the theater? Return of the Jedi.  Before that we always went to the drivein.

20. FIRST Detention you had? I am not going to go digging around memories that trivial for your entertainment.  Probably it was for failing a spelling test.  I'm not sure why, but they insisted on teaching us memorization instead of spelling. I learned how to spell after I'd left college and found that I was curious as to why words are shaped the way they are and what relation that shape has to the sound of the word.

21. What was the FIRST state you lived in? New York.

22. If you had three wishes, what would the FIRST one be?  I would wish for the wisdom to know what to do with my remaining wishes.

23. What is the FIRST thing you would learn if you had the chance? Everything.

These memes are fun, not because we're ever really interested in each others' answers, but because they let us take a few moments and rummage around inside our own brains and expect us to prioritize and articulate our experiences.  They also raise more questions.

What was your first solid food?  Arrowroot Cookies.

What was your first favorite band and do you still listen to them?  The B-52s, and hell yes.

What was your gourmet meal?  Filet Mignon, baby greens with raspberry vinagrette, and some sort of enchanted potato dish I don't know the name.

What was your first online identity?  Babysquire.

I could sit here and do this all day, but that's not going to get my work done.  Thank you, OS, for giving me a free moment to shuck my duty so that I could return to it with renewed vigor.

Gone to save the world, BRB.

Hmmm...well I for one AM interested in the mundane details of other people's lives, or rather, their reactions and descriptions of their first cars, loves, proms, school detentions, wedding parties, etc. It's how all these cultural touchstones are so alike, yet so different from other people's perspectives.
I like both sides of these - seeing others' answers and finding my own. Yours, as always, are fascinating, dear heart!
Ummmm . . . I see a double standard here - pictures, or the tat doesn't count!
*laughs* Sure thing, Owl. When I get home I'll upload pics of my inks.
Did mine . . . just because.
Brilliant...that car...yeah...we could drive to France on a tank of gas! And let's see...cantaloupe, The Beatles, and of course I still listen to them, dinner at L'Opera in Paris...that was eating in heaven...and elephantoracle. Ha!
Okay, Missy. #7 implies a human, does it not? Get back over here, you.
Slick answer with that wish!
I do get a kick out of learning about the folks here on the OS. It's interesting.
I took my daughter to Belgium on a high speed train from Paris once. We had a great time.
*tapping foot* Still waiting for pics . . .
I can't believe your first solid food was arrowroot cookies. I challenge you on that! ;)
