Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

Laundry. Friday Jan 1, 2010

Rate: 6 Flag

I started out the morning doing laundry,
Thus obviating one recurring quandary,
Of what to do on days without the kids.
'Cuz no one's putting out competing bids
For company.  If I don't make the call,
There's nobody to play with now, at all.

What a journey you are making. I understand about the call.
Right now, it's January 1, 2011, here in Australia ... and I just noticed this on the feed.

Wow DB ... a year! You've made it!

Congratulations my friend!

But, gee, I hope this doesn't mean you're going to stop now.... : (
Those were my sentiments exactly, Kate. don't stop now, Bard. Interesting to see who showed up at our friends 1st post today!
thank you Bard for all you've done & taught. Happy New Year. And I still look forward to that cup of coffeee someday.
Thank you ann1 (from April!), Dave, Kate and trilogy. It is very thoughtful of you to stop by at this one. Thank you so much.

No coffee tonight. I'm getting in the car to buy some groceries, and a little bottle of Cava!

Happy New Year all!
I had to close the year with a moment's stopping here.
Cava? (Just looked it up - Spanish wine!) Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!!!

You so deserve it DB! Congratulations and the happiest of years I wish for you!

YAY!!!!
I may just start from the beginning and read one a day :-)

Your first poem here is just as wonderful as all the rest I've read since September.
They say that whatever you are doing on the cusp of the 31st and 1st of January is what will reoccur in the coming year. I read here laundry, vino tinto, compania y la falta de, meditacion en los queridos hijos, and rhe obviating of quandaries...and the call, or lack thereof.

Who are you, really? Why so magical?

Don't answer those questions. I think it's the iams that get me...
My kids are grown, but I still have to do the laundry!
