Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

Adjusting. Sunday Jan 17, 2010

Rate: 4 Flag

She took our daughter out to the ballet.
I had my son the best part of the day.
They picked him up a little while ago,
While coming home from dinner and the show.
It's funny, but tonight it hurts me less
To turn around, and see the emptiness.
The day was really perfect, all in all,
With pinewood derby car, and basketball.
But I've gone through an unexpected door:
I'm wishing less that I could give him more.
It's much too soon to say if this will keep.
From one day to the next, I go to sleep
And wake up, and my mood is off and drifting,
Just when I thought this endless fog was lifting.
Tonight I'll be content with just today.
Tomorrow might be different.  Who can say.

Michelle, your leaving a comment here made me stop and read it - I made a correction to the first line, which was missing a word, and did not scan correctly.

Thanks for dropping by!
