Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

Tonight the kids are gone; their mother's home.
I'd hoped to get a little extra done,
But absence makes my concentration roam,
So what was on my desk is unbegun.
I might have been expected to be sad.
But she's their mother -- they were both so glad
To have her come back home, that it was catching.
And they've become so practiced at detaching.
Somehow tonight, I'm not remotely weepy.
I'm just all by myself, and very sleepy.

At 1:22 am you ought to be sleepy. My question is: are the times posted on OS blogs always Eastern Time? ( I can check this out by looking at the time this comment is posted -- just thought of that.)
Oh, the poem? Rated again.
The answer to my above question is yes. Now, I will check back later to see what triology has to say.
Hi dlv. Every time I post, I look forward to your down-to-earth response. And you are correct on the timezone.

The last two lines took the last hour. When the kids go back to their mom, my mind just goes blank for the rest of the day.
@dlv. Hi - You knew I'd come!
DB: "And they've become so practiced at detaching". This is such a sad line, although I suppose you could look at it as a good thing too! Do you get to see them often?
Hi tril. I sent a private note on that question. Thanks as always for reading.
