Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

I hadn't seen my daughter in a week.
We managed maybe once or twice to speak
By telephone, but just to say hello
At dinnertime, and then she had to go.
Tonight she was performing in a dance.
I never, ever, EVER get a chance
To see her doing anything like this.
It wasn't something I was gonna miss.
The dance was noisy, boisterous and fun,
And naturally adored by everyone,
But when it all was done, the greater bliss
Was when I got my hurried hug and kiss.
And then I got my coat, and found my hat,
And said goodnight and left, and that was that.

Bittersweet. So great that you got to attend the recital, but sad that she went home with mom. The same happened with my daughter's first recital. It was Christmas time and it was "his weekend." I didn't get to do her hair or makeup, barely got to see her before the show and got a quick kiss afterwards and had to say goodbye. *sigh*
This was so, so sweet. naturally adored by everyone
Hello Linnnnnnnnn, She, and tril. Thanks for coming by, as always.

A clutch of readers here are checking innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.
I got a lovely quatrain too, from Linnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

She, thank you. Yes, some memories you just don't get to have. But it's nice when an event that's not on my watch is public, so I can just let her know I'm there.

tril, thank you. And how can any human not adore a bunch of little girls bouncing all over the stage?
