Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

There are a hundred things that I could mourn,
And will in time.  They all will get their due.
A thought, a hope, a longing now forsworn,
An act.  Apologies, long overdue.
But not so much that I could come undone.
This happened once upon a time, and earth
Turned upside down, and grief put out the sun,
And viciously destroyed all sense of worth.
Then gradually I learned to live with sorrow,
To give it time it cried for, like a child.
And soothe away its pow'r to steal tomorrow,
And render even hopelessness beguiled.
When grief last came, it wasn't running wild.
I swear it even turned to me and smiled.

this is very pretty. Love the last line. :-) R
Hello Pavanne. Thank you for coming by, as always. It was funny -- I found myself in a set of "-ild" rhymes at 1:30 in the morning, and the last two just sort of fell into place. The image was surprising, and I realized how comfortable I was with it. I'm glad you liked it.
in totality, this is quite awesome. neat. each line a well chosen thread. particularly enjoyed how it all came together. however, it is the following that tilted my head in admiration.

Hi tril. I'm glad to hear it. And your continued visits mean a great deal.

Hello Renatta. Thank you for visiting the work of a literal-minded formalist. I am very happy that you liked it.
I adore this one. (I think I say that about a lot of your stuff) But this one; I especially understand the grief. "Put out the sun." Indeed.
