Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

Today the kids had sports too far apart
For credible attendance either way.
I asked a mom, whose daughter is a part
Of soccer, could she give a ride, or stay,
And no, she couldn't.  (She has three to follow.)
So I was left to test a little notion
That Albert Einstein found arcane, and hollow.
I don't quite understand it: Quantum motion
Is something like a guy with kids in games
On either side of town.  And one says "DAD...
Please stay at MINE" -- the other one exclaims,
"You ALWAYS go to his!"  They're both so sad,
The dad builds up potential Here and There,
Compounding need on need for either Where,
And LEAPS.  And thus he sees one catch a fly,
One pass the goalie, neither one need cry...
It doesn't work.  But it was worth a try.

It all works itself out in the end DB..
Bard. I'm so excited! I got here before trilogy! As to the poem, I love it. You manage to retain your sense of humor. I followed three kids in swimming, football and wrestling all the way through college. Believe me, your kids will remember your attendance at their games all their lives. It's really important.
Kind of glad I don't have kids, maybe?
@dlv: Oh so now we're in a competition? I was with Roger Daltry tonight - but I shall post about that on Monday.
Oh, sorry DB: This is about you, and your kids. I know, I had three. Sometimes it feels like all we do is drive cross town/cross town/cross town. but in the end, it's worth it!
They'll remember that you tried. They'll sit around one day, talking, and, with a catch in their throats, they'll remember that you tried. And then they'll give you a call to say hi.
Ahhh, Bard. I could never juggle it myself. One year I tried limiting each to only one extra activity, it still didn't help. I began to take a book to the fields, the games, the bleachers, the benches. The strange mother who read or sketched while one of her children played, who couldn't be in three places at once.
Excellent. We need to get some of the OS scientists and/or saints to work on bi-location for you. I think some of the old-school saints have achieved it. Levitation could be helpful too -- or at least add some humor to the situation. Sweet poem, DB.
Hi everyone. Thank you for coming by, all those who've commented here, and in the last couple of days -- Caroline Hagood's very generous post has brought some new people my way, and I am very grateful.

Hi rita. Yes, I've always trusted in that. For now I'm in the middle, and it's really a wonderful place to be.

dlv - well, congratulations. Thanks for the reinforcement, on attendance. Meanwhile, I love the games.

Hello aliciasaxearts, and welcome. I was glad I didn't have kids after my FIRST separation. Life keeps changing.

Hi tril. Um... you were ah, WITH Roger Daltry last night? Er, um. Hmmmmm...

Hello AtHomePilgrim, and welcome. Thanks for the glimpse into the future. I like that part about a catch in their throats, that's particularly touching.

Hi scupper. A sketch pad is tempting, although the results would be laughable. But I enjoy talking to the other parents too much. What do we talk about? Our kids, of course.

Hello kissinglessons. Hey, you have connections in that regard, don't you? (Been reading your blog.)

Thank you all, comments or not. Do say hello if you come by, it's nice to have visitors. I may not respond again for a couple of days, but you're a big part of my evenings.
I have corrected an error of scansion. I was particularly tired last night, and ignored that the accent in "arcane" is on the second syllable. I had this:

So I was left to test an arcane notion
That Albert Einstein thought was pretty hollow.

I have replaced it with this:

So I was left to test a little notion
That Albert Einstein found arcane, and hollow.

As the newspapers say in their corrections, we apologize for any inconvenience that may have resulted from this error.
Ah, yes, the laws of physics that must be obeyed! Too bad they never looked at the face of a disappointed child.....
I deal with this one, too... we just have to make sure they know we're trying. Hope they weren't too upset.
Lovely. I am so moved by the love you have for your children even as you try to juggle all their needs.
