Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

We have this client.  She's in Montreal.
She left a voicemail.  God I swear, I fall,
No SWOON, in love with ev'ry single sound,
When she goes leaving messages around.
She can't say "three".  It comes out more like "tree,"
But prettier.  And her effect on me
Accumulates with each successive word.
She somehow brings to mind a mockingbird
In summer.  In the morning.  When the dawn
Declares the day.  Or something like that -- on
The phone, I smile and daydream, while she asks
Of contracts, and communications tasks.

DB, once again, you do such a great job of capturing little moments and serving them up in perfect verse. Bravo.

You have a gift.
Lovely to SWOON and smile and daydream as you listen to the sounds.
Once again, you have managed to make the ordinary sound sublime! Well done. R
Of course, this reminds me of when I met a beloved radio personality for the first time, and his voice and his body had NOTHING in common....
Is it Québecoise accent, DB? :o) ~R
Hello good people. I have been swamped lately, and I apologize for not being able to answer your comments before. Thank you for your great patience.

froggy, you are very kind. I write, in large part, because you read.

anna1, yes. It is indeed fun to swoon sometimes. Especially when it is risk-free.

Dave, if you could hear her voice, you would know what sublime really means. Honest. And thanks.

Moose: yes indeed. One glance at Luciano Pavarotti would tell you lots more than you ever wanted to know.

Fusun, you are correct!

Thanks again all. More to come.
