Divorce Bard

Location: pretty how town, USA
Birthday: February 13

Bio: While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

More work, again. But late this afternoon
I did step out for coffee for a minute.
I got a BIG one. With a decent spoon
Of sugar, and a little whole milk in it,
And came back home, and worked, and worked some more.
The only time I went back out the door
Was just to move the car across the street.
I worked, and now and then got up to eat,
But quickly, so I wouldn't have to miss
The kids. I should be giving them a kiss.
Or walking home from school. Not doing this.

In the Bronx we had "alternate side of the street parking" because of garbage pick up I think. you would have to move the car everyday if it was parked in the same spot.
I really liked how you got "spoon of sugar" in there, DB

Hello everyone. I'm taking a quick OS break between work and work (yes, it's Saturday night, and it's really true). Thanks for coming by, as always.

Kim, you're right. And I don't dispute it. But thanks for reminding me of it anyway. And really, my job ain't half bad.

Renatta, I just read your piece about your mom's visit. I hope my kids can work up even half the excitement about my visits, in some years. Bless you and your mom.

anna1, thanks. I have lived through worse. I hope I don't seem petulant. But I do miss them a lot.

Dave, I almost broke my rule of respond-once-a-day just for you. And trilogy got it right, although I don't live in the Bronx. We have alternate side of the street parking. I suspect it's not really for street cleaning. I think it's strictly for ticket revenue -- sometimes it seems like they go out and change all the signs in the middle of the night. (For another word on this, you can look at my post of 2/9/10).

trilogy, good memory. I had forgotten you had lived in the east. And yes, a spoon of sugar. I used to drink it black. Then I'm not sure what happened... I mellowed?

And Fusun, yes that speaks well. But it's always nice to know who's behind the rating.
