Divorce Bard

Location: pretty how town, USA
Birthday: February 13

Bio: While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

I've noticed if I work too late at night,
There's hardly a poetic word in sight,
As I sit down to write an evening's thoughts;
I'm all filled up with can'ts, and shoulds, and oughts.
But as of now, I'll add anticipation:
On Tuesday we begin a short vacation.

(I need a list of all the fifty states,
So we can play a game of license plates.)

Yes, too much work stifles more interesting words. But you did well.

Another travel game (tough on the interstate in rural areas, though): the alphabet game, in which you must find a word outside the car beginning with each letter of the alphabet, in order. (X is the exception: just as to be in the word, not the initial letter.) Enjoy!

Internal guides to wrong and right
To initiate a strong connection
For destinations of delight.
Denials of the wrong direction
May negate bad selection
So negatives can flip desires
Towards more congenial brighter fires.
So following one's better noes
Can be more yes than we suppose.
