Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

We're home!  Eleven hours.  The kids were great.
I'd offered an attraction on the way:
Some caverns, but they'd likely make us late
For celebrating Independence Day
With fireworks in the park.  They chose the latter.
We clambered in the car and started driving,
And somehow all the hours didn't matter;
We'd done this all before.  The mere surviving
Of many hours all cooped up in the car,
All tease and fight and constant in-your-face
Somehow just isn't part of what they are;
They're learning now, about respecting space.
But honestly: eleven hours?  I mean it.
I wouldn't have believed it till I'd seen it.
(My snacks, of course, and game of license plates
Assured I wasn't waiting on the Fates.)

Tis a wise father who comes prepared with snacks and games. Glad you made it safely back home; hope the fireworks were fun!
Welcome back, Bard. We missed you. R-
Eleven hours! Glad you are all back. From just this piece, sounds as though all was well. Love the peace and equanimity I hear here. Welcome back.
Sounds like the investment was well worth it. And now you are home.
Home sweet home in good verse.
