Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

A friend has just resurfaced.  She's got work.
For me.  A smallish project, made to order,
To get my head a bit above the murk
Of money owed, and living on the border
Of I-dunno-how-this-is-gonna-end.
She's always been a really loyal friend.
It's just... I've had to hide this stupid crush
For thirty years.
But that's a SECRET.

Hush.

I'll never tell. Good luck with the work, DB....and.....whatever else.
mum's the word, bard. mum's the word.
Thinking of you and smiling.
Your secret's safe with me. Love how you broke up "She's got work. For me." And, of course, the line breaks at the end.
I'll keep your secret.
