Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

Goodnight #18. Thursday Aug 5, 2010

Rate: 6 Flag

Today was just an ordinary day.
It's hardly worth a mention in my journal.
Were there some epic thing I had to say,
I can't.  It's really late, and I'm diurnal.

Do not worry my friend, it’s all okay
For tomorrow is yet another day
You're writing a book - you know that ?
I can even see the pictures.
Opposite this poem is the silhoette of a house or small apartment block, maybe a tree and a streetlight. Light on in one window, and the last quarter of a moon in the sky above.
Some days are like that.
Hope you have slept well. I love Kim's vision of your book.
Like a Shel Silverstein book. I must admit I had to look up the word "diurnal"
Good evening all. I actually posted before midnight tonight! I am going to get some welcome rest. It has been a very long week, and I appreciate everyone's patience with my hit-and-miss answers to your comments.

Kate, that is a very sweet thing to do. Thanks for an endearing couplet.

Kim, I like the illustration. PM on its way.

Pilgrim, yes, especially after a week like I had.

anna1, thank you -- I'm going to sleep well in about 15 minutes. Book? Everybody's talking book?

trilogy, I see Kim really started something. Hmmm. Oh and by the way, I know diurnal because I explained nocturnal animals to my son once -- so his immediate question was, of course, what about animals that are awake during the day? I had to look it up too.

Thanks to all, as always, all year long. GoodNIGHT!
