Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

The Envelope Said Grrr. Monday August 23, 2010

Rate: 12 Flag

A note to me, one day in early June
(The kids delivered it that afternoon):
"We want two movies!!!! And if you don't let us,
We'll be EXTREMLY FURIOS," it said.
Some scheduling confusion had beset us,
Or something.  And they wouldn't go to bed.

We found some common ground, though I don't know
Exactly what we did.  And they were pissed:
EXTREMLY FURIOS -- bravissimo!
Two words, well worth a single bedtime missed.

Talent runs in the family.~r
Peace comes at a high price sometimes.
Or always. Take your pick.
Good words written strongly.
Poems bring out the best words.
"Extremly furios"? How curious!
How cute! Wonderfully delicious!
Rating them, for knowing how to play Dad's cards just so!
They certainly were worth a single bedtime missed. Glad you found some common ground.
Kids spell the damnedest way, don't thay?
Hello everyone. I can't express how important you all are to this entire process. But I can say thank you. Thank you.

Kimberly, thank you. It almost became not a memory at all: I found the letter in a stack of papers on my desk. It was rescued from certain doom (and I am very glad to have it now).

anna1, indeed - nearly perfect iambic pentameter. With absolutely no effort! They were inspired by the feeling of the moment, however.

Linda, thanks. The hugs go to them for sheer command of the language.

Joan, that's such a nice thing to say. I watch with great interest.

Sophieh, thanks!

Mission, thank you. The price couldn't have been too high - I was discussing the event with my daughter today. Neither of us could remember what the resolution was.

Kate, I thought of scanning the letter. It is indeed cute. But it's also in orange marker, and would nearly disappear. Trust me: it's cute.

rita, you are so on the money there. The best part is, they did it subconsciously.

Caroline, you seem like someone who might have done this -- did you get favors from your dad with vocabulary points?

Leon, I think the best way to describe kids' spelling is, honest. And possibly, sincere. Ain't it great?

I am very excited to get into bed before 1:00am. So please don't call! The desk is closed!
Goodnight!
