The neighbors' cat and dog have traded places.
Again. The one is here, the other there.
The cat's a claustrophobe; apartment spaces
Had kept him clawing at the door for air.
The night the dog was baying at the door,
His owner worked a shift with EMS.
She picked him up, a little after four.
That's four, a.m. -- then got some sleep, I guess.
In sev'ral weeks she's moving back. But now,
The cat is in the yard, and known to brood,
Pretending feral thoughts. He'll eat, somehow.
A possum and a woodchuck took his food.
He's puzzling out the coming and the going,
And hoping they'll be done when it starts snowing.

Just like the rest of us.
- Kim: you know, I googled "almata" and got back another city, but this time in Kazakhstan. I'm guessing that's not it. And... issue? Now that's exactly what I need. Another issue.
- Canuck: you're right about that dog. He accepts everything but being left alone in the apartment overnight. I'm not sure how the cat is doing with the other animals... although the woodchuck could explain some really spooky cat sounds under my window lately.
- Muse, nighty night to you -- hey wait a minute 8:46am?, what time zone are you in?
- ladyslipper, yes, you can include me in that as well.
- anna1, yes sometimes I would like things to be they way I understood them to be as well.
- Joan, yes, this big brave kitty hunted a baby bird in the nest the other day. It's wasn't a blue jay of course. Not THAT feral.
Thanks everyone. Time to post and turn in. Goodnight! Get some rest!
I hope they're online and speak english and can get their heads around the whole american dog/cat conundrum.
I'm continuing to rate you, international consequences or not.
