Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

All out of jasmine tea.  Tonight it's mint,
This young September evening on the stairs.
And now and then a wind has just a hint
Of things ethereal, some little airs
And lucky whims of season, night to night.
The breeze would brush its hair against my face,
And offer words that barely deign to light
Upon a meaning; syntax, commonplace
Expression set aside for just a while,
Along the steps, and leaning on my shoulder,
And partly hear, and partly play, and smile,
And notice that my tea is getting colder.
And time to wander in, to go to bed,
While words like sugar plums fill up my head.

I often go to bed with a head full of words. It can be all at once inspiring and frustrating.
I feel as though I am floating through your words and catching the breeze.
The breeze and words do dance a merry dance
And fill his head with whispers of romance?
Oops! Came back to rate!

Have a great day, DB!
I feel like you have a real gift for giving us hints "Of things ethereal, some little airs."
"This young September evening on the stairs" - that's lovely.

And, um, this is kinda sexy - what with, you know, the breeze's hair brushing against your face and the leaning on your shoulder and all.
like this very much DB, a bit different for you, it is becoming.
Just discovered your blog. I loved the three rules. So far, you are doing a helluva job. I shall return for sure.
That is some pretty perceptive tea in your mug.
Deja Vu!!!!!! Right down to the comments in the top tier.
Wow!!!!
Mind-blowing.
Your poetry seems destined to haunt my dreams......

Hi everyone. Thank you for reading, rating, and writing. I wasn't sure how this one was going to go over - thanks for sticking with me. It was a lovely night out on the steps.

Joan, hi. Yes I go to a funny place late at night, when I start groping for a post.

Bluestocking, hello again! Yes, sometimes it's hard to get it all to quiet down. I know that frustration part.

anna1, your images are pretty nice too. I'll see if I can make it up to the clouds with you for my next post.

Kate: oh dear, you asked me point blank. I'm afraid I'm going to have to plead the fifth (do you have a fifth in Australia?)

Caroline: the gift that I have is people who come by to read it.

c&v, um, well... hm. Se - :cough: hm?

rita, thank you. You said three really important things there, I don't know if you realize it.

Brassawe, welcome! I saw your comment earlier today and tried to get to your blog, but then the phone rang, and it didn't stop. I'm gonna. Glad to have you here.

catch-22, Trader Joe's peppermint. We should do a double-blind test.

PW, hello there, long time no see. Deja vu? Really?

You are all great for coming by, and I wish I could express how much I appreciate it. I'll try to keep them coming.

Okay, I'll let you off. I was a bit of an imp for asking anyway!

Australia has no constitutional protection for the right to silence, but I understand it is broadly recognised by our Crimes Acts etc. In general we have the right to refuse to answer questions too!
this was absolutely delightful. One of my favorites yet! R
