Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

The kids are back in school this week.  At last!
Let others say the season went too fast.
I mean, the summertime is nice and all,
But me, I've always had a thing for fall.
And man oh man, the kids are getting tall.

I am not a summer person. Though we home school ours, I welcome autumn because we can all go outside without roasting and I love how the air turns soft.
It's awful isn't it when you have to stand on a chair to straighten their hair ?
Breathe deep the Autumn air and pat yourself on the back for another Summer well done, DB.
It's been very nice the last few days, a respite from this very hot summer. Enjoy some autumn.
Moment by moment as you watch, one season blends into the next as summer break becomes a new academic year. So much growth in so many ways are witnessed in your writings here.
rated and understood...
I love how you say so much in such a tight arrangement.
This one is simple but not really. Time passes. Love your stuff.
But I don't like the days getting shorter. Sorry.

Last line: every parents' reality.
This tight arrangement was perfectly complete. I am a summer hater in a climate that may or may not have a real winter. I have a longing to move north, just no guts or funds right now. I am thrilled to see autumn once again though!
