Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

Goodnight #26. Monday Oct 4, 2010

Rate: 10 Flag

It rained and rained and rained.  The world is wet,
And something's happened to my internet.
Verizon's on it, 7/24,
But truth be told, they need a little more.
I found a place where I could go and write:
This Starbucks closes up at 10.  Goodnight.

Thank you all for your patience. I haven't been able to sit down and spend time answering any of your comments, which I always look forward to. When Verizon gets it right, I'll be back in my living room to give you all the attention you deserve.
I feel a weariness for the rain on your part. You must be on the east coast. I hope Verizon sets things right. I always have such trouble concentrating at a coffee shop.
...partings are such sweet sorrow...adieu as well! Stay dry! and connected! ;} thanks bard!
Very bardly sir, and goodnight to you as well.
it is raining here
and raining and raining
if internet service went out i'd go bonkers, too.
When bards are bored
Midst atmospheric damping,
When mind shuts down
From inspiration's clamping.
When rain's domain
Lays its claim
With creativity decamping,
It's best to rest,
To slink to sleep
Where ideas leap
And magic works its zests
Through forests out of fairyland
Where diamond eggs hatch out of nests.
I wonder how many of us wrote our posts at Starbucks today? I just needed to get space from my messy house.
Excellent as always, Bard. Stay dry!
the 7/24 is the problem. Now if it were 24/7 Verizon would be right on it.
It rains in my world too! It is so wet
That frizzy and frizzier my curls get!
It's about the weather, right ?
Or something.
Verizon - you take that when you need to fly somewhere ?
Starbucks. Hmm. There was a movie, or a lot of movies ...
about coffee ?
I get a sense of disjointedness here,
like it's raining but you need to catch a 727
and there's a movie ...
I'm seeing Carrie Fisher and her bio.
A pill that calms my nerves,
a person at a keyboard
not Keith Jarret,
someone I know somehow ...
Is this about you ?
It's amazing what we can do when we have to, isn't it. You are dedicated. Thanks. R-
Starbucks seems to be gaining a fair trade from all this rain. But disconnect is disconnect and unsettles all sense of norm. Hope you managed to sleep well tonight. We'll all be here when all is dry and well.
at least sleeping in the rain is peaceful. you are truely dedicated. r
I woke up this morning and my wireless router had experienced a spontaneous healing. What a pleasure to work in my own living room again.

pastvoices, yes, weary. But it really gets compounded when my internet service is down. The list of things I can't do without it gets longer every day.

Muse, and so I did. It is sweet of you to come by to wish me well.

Gabby, thanks to you too. It was lovely waking up to all these greetings this morning.

vanessa, well it was apparently only 48 hours. So there aren't too many scars. But I empathize on the rain. Man oh man.

Jan, how excellent that you stepped in out of the rain. Just leave your boots by the door.

heidibeth, now THERE's material for an open call.

froggy, thank you. With my service back up I was able to stay dry and have hot soup for lunch as well. It was an excellent day.

trilogy, aha you caught me. I had to move it around so it would scan properly. But having granted them the extra bit, I found that they did finally come through.

Kate, yes... I do have really bad beard days, myself.

Kim, I knew I'd see you if I wrote a Goodnight. But you know, sometimes I could use your stream of consciousness. Mine can get pretty dry sometimes.

Dave, I made myself a promise for 2010, and I'm too close to crack now. But thanks for the compliment.

anna1, I did sleep, and plenty. Since I had to get my post in before Starbucks closed, I actually got into bed on time. It was quite the luxury.

Thank you all so very much, once again, for your patience over the last few days. It's great to get back to you.
