Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

Divorce Papers (Goodnight #27). Tuesday Oct 12, 2010

Rate: 12 Flag

We met, and sat, and signed without a fight.
I went home whistling "Sleigh Ride."
Huh?
Goodnight.

The legal is just a few lines, but a life together is so much more than that. It takes forever to unfold from that.
There are shifts
Within the mantle of our planet,
Movements underground and undetected
Until something solid lifts.
Sometimes just a candlestick, sometimes granite
And our world is transmogrified
Every aspect changes, deflected
To leave one silent, terrified.
A simple signature delivered with aplomb
Transformed into an atomic bomb.
If and when you can allow tenderness and gentleness to reach you and be with you, know it is there.
glad your signing went better than mine. Be well. :-)
A life moment where all the air gets sucked out of the room. But you do, I did, catch a breath surprisingly soon.
And that was that. Another way station on the road.
'Twas once an experience of mine. The song was different, but I whistled, too. Have been enjoying your poems...
Hoping the sun is shining a little brighter for you today, my friend.
Yes : " Huh ?" Sleigh Ride ?
Brief like a pair of boxers 3 sizes small. Just can't wait to take them off and feel comfy again.
Jan Sand captured it all for me.
Sleigh Ride? There is such a finality to that simple signature!
