Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

Fantasia. Sunday Nov 14, 2010

Rate: 13 Flag

Dear Diary, it said.  And then a thought:
Of sunset, twilight, darkness, waxing moon,
And love of night.  Uncertain if I ought
To read it even -- night was falling soon;
Such love might be unleashed without a warning.
But I can watch outside the window here
And wait for meteors until the morning
As swaths of wishes blaze, then disappear.
And I will dream of jazmine, or of mint.
Or candy canes, and choc'lates, and a kiss
The taste of copper, and a tiny hint
Of mischief -- then awaken back to this,
My desk, the lamp, and groping for a word,
Remembering the nightness that she heard.

Very lovely rejoiner to an earlier post noted today..
Lovely poem for a fantasia type mind.
I too love the evening progression of ""Of sunset, twilight, darkness, waxing moon,"
May the magic of twilight and the beauty of night always yield sweet dreams such as this.

Oh so beautiful and enchanting, DB.
Ah, the "nightness that she heard." Opening to that.
"... love of night." "Remembering the nightness that she heard." So much richness here. I want to wait a while and come back again and again.
"The nightness that she heard." A gorgeous phrase, haunting & piercing. More than makes up for "choc'lates."

By the way, about my anxiety post--can't be stupid and up all the time; sometimes (though it's new to me) have to be stupid and down.
Felt a tingle in my spine as I read this. "As swaths of wishes blaze, then disappear" is another spectacular phrase, and the awakening "back to this" is a perfect encap. Rated, of course.
And you just happe to crank out perfect sonnets? I envy you, Bard.
The imagery here just takes me away.
Impossible to read your words here and not be drawn to the wonder of night. Why do I need to be reminded of this. A gift to me, these words.
honestly?
a little break here? or maybe I should pace my reading...
each poem is better than the one before, and the one before called excellent and shouted out as such down the street, raved about to friends and mother
I am in awe, just in awe
the imagery leaves me sighing and hoping
mágica pura. I hope it becomes a realidad one night soon.

vanessa is correct, por supuesto, but why rest now that you've started?
Here I am back again, continually honored that all of you would come by, and even enjoy.

Veronica, I love mint as well. And it was the turn to mint that made me realize this was going to be a fantasy.

rita, I'm glad you liked it.

Algis, thank you. It's always nice to see you come by.

trilogy, thanks. Yeah, the only problem is, I'm discovering (upon paying attention) that the moon is out BEFORE it gets dark at that phase.

Kate, I'm so happy you liked it. Thank you for your wishes.

Pilgrim, that was a particular bit of mischief. It left a nice impression, though.

anna1, and you did in fact come back, didn't you. Thank you for liking it, for coming back.

Leon, I'm personally a big fan of chocolates, because they can have two or three syllables, depending on my whim. Not every candy with a chewy center can give you that.

Fox, a tingle? In your spine? I'm honored. Unless there's something neurological going on.

Shawn, hm... just happen to. Um, not really? Although the form does speak to me more and more.

pastvoices, thank you. Glad to give you a lift.

vanessa, then I would love to meet your mother.

catch, thank you. The fact is, I can only go on a beauty streak so many nights. Then I just have to put my feet up and write something silly. Like tonight!

Thank you so much everyone.

Goodnight all.
