Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

A Walk. Sunday Dec 12, 2010

Rate: 10 Flag

The sunrise was invisible today.
The turnpike hills and bridges gave a view
Of streetlights - thousands - set against the gray
Of morning, that would never turn to blue.
The sky was also dark at eventide;
The sun, obscured as it had been at morning.
The night and day had shown no warmer side;
The two had given open, honest warning.
But in between commuting there and here,
The rain dispersed, and yielded up the street.
And though the sun would never once appear,
They idled through the hours on their feet,
        Both talking just a little bit too fast,
        Because they knew the daylight wouldn't last.

We are having the exact same day here today in southern Turkey.
Nice poem and sentiment.
Days like these. Days like these. Walking. Talking.
I love hearing about them.r
Oh. Now. This is hopeful. ZI love that feeling of never quite getting enough and set up against the gray and cold -- it makes the warmth even warmer.
I had to check my calendar to make sure I had the right day. I think Sunday was like that everywhere!
daylight never lasts as much as one wants
That describes yesterday here in the Midwest as well, with one exception. At times you couldn't see the gray sky for the blowing and falling snow. The images you bring to life never dull.
Taking us with you on the journey ... the walk ... through your days, especially one such as this, is a special and beautiful honour that you bestow upon us.

Thank you dear friend ... thank you.
Hello everyone! And thank you, always and forever.

Algis, I don't get to see you here much. Thanks for coming by - and you're right, trilogy says the weather is the same where she is, too.

anna1, I do love walking and talking. It was a very pleasant day.

hugs, thanks for checking in. Stay tuned, I'm hoping for more.

Antoinette, yes that's a nice feeling once you can get to the warmth! We fortunately had very mild temperatures.

trilogy, if it was for me, and was for you, and was for Algis, it must have been indeed.

vanessa, you're right, especially up here, in the wintertime. Brr. Dark.

pastvoices, another vote for gray. Sounds like the entire western hemisphere. At least in the north.

Kate, thank you so much. And believe me, I feel honored that you are reading.

Thanks so much everyone. Goodnight!
open, honest warning~
sounds like there was still some glow to be felt/seen...
