Bio
While the ashes of marriage #2 were cooling, I began a journal here in verse, to keep myself out of trouble. So far so good, and one day at a time. I took a hiatus this past January, and I missed it terribly. Writing daily had changed the way I think - not my opinions, but the process of thinking itself. So here I am back again, and hungry. I began with three rules: (1) Iambic pentameter, (2) Perfect rhyme, and (3) It had to be true (no hyperbole). I hereby amend rule number 3: If I'm writing about myself, yes, it has to be true. But it doesn't, if I want to tell a story.

It may not be clear from the title: the game was my son's.
Awesome. Love the two conversations at once. Perfect.

I'm with Froggy. Your clarity here is excellent. R
Oh my gosh , I was at that game last sunday :). Very clever, very clear. r
I was once at a hockey game where a kid got a hat trick. I was the guy who had to tell his dad--who walked in late--what he'd just missed.
It’s been a while since anything I wrote was THIS true to life. It’s almost word for word what transpired. With some judicious editing, of course. And my son’s team won the game (the dad I was talking to was on the other team, our kids are very good friends.) I want to thank mhold once again, for introducing me to the form, a long time ago - July 30, 2010 to be exact, on her post here: http://open.salon.com/blog/mhold/2010/07/29/triolet …thanks, mhold!

froggy, thank you. Those are two very, very nice adjectives you’re throwing at me. You’re a peach.

Algis, nice work there. The hearts are a great touch. Thanks for posting it here, it’s really quite special.

Michelle, I guess if there’s any clarity at all, it’s because it’s pretty much lifted from a one-hour conversation with another dad. (He enjoyed it too, by the way)

hugs – was that you??? dang, I was going to invite you out for coffee…

Con – and you just made me look up “hat trick”. I had to wait till today of course, because Wikipedia was dark. Three plays, three points – I can just feel the other dad’s groan when you told him.
Score! the form was perfect for this.
c&v, thanks. I do like me some triolet.
