You knew it would happen. I didn't even watch the coverage until much later in the day after the Tucson shooting but I knew how the media would paint this one: it's the fault of the Right Wing!!
Honestly, when I did start to watch some of the clips that were out there in the MSM I thought at first that it was some kind of joke. They could not be serious. Could they?
Apparently all of the following people are responsible for the shooting that took place in Arizona: Sarah Palin, Conservative Talk Radio, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Sharron Angle. Did I miss anyone? Don't worry. If I did, and they are Conservative they will soon be added to the list.
What I find very interesting is that few have actually blamed the SHOOTER. I heard one Congresswoman say "Guns kill!" Really? All by themselves they kill? You know I've had guns in my life for as long as I can remember and I can't remember a single incident where a gun just decided to get up and go kill someone.
Probably the most hysterical accusation that I heard came from Eugene Robinson at the Washington Post. Paraphrased he said that there is no doubt in anyone's mind that ALL of the hate-filled rhetoric has come exclusively from the Right Wing for many years now. This guy calls himself a journalist? What a joke.
It is very interesting to watch the fantasy world that has been created to accompany some of these statements. I like to call it "situational blindness." The Liberals/Progressives or whatever they are calling themselves these days can't seem to think of ANY angry or hate filled rhetoric that has come from the left. According to some the Left has been very "quiet" since the incident at Kent State. Yeah, ok.
Really? So I guess that movie that was made a few years back that actually illustrated the assassination of President George W. Bush was just a big joke. Right?
Or how about Air America calling for Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann to not only slice her writs open but in the words of the host: "move that knife up about 5 inches first." Or telling Glenn Beck that he should just commit suicide now and get it over with. As a matter of fact"do it live on the air."
As a matter of fact if you need a little reminder of just how MUCH Leftist, hate-filled rhetoric has beeen spewn over the years you can check it out here where Michelle Malkin put together a very nice collection of some of their greatest hits:

The FACTS are that this was an unfortunate incident that MAYBE could have been prevented had someone stepped in and offered to help this kid. This kid is menatlly ill. If you haven't already seen his YouTube videos then you should. One look and you can tell that he is not right.
Now we find out the MANY peole knew about it and did nothing. You want to ban guns? Why? do you really think that he would not have found another way to do what he intended to do? Let's not focus on the instrument here but on the perpetrator.
Quite frankly, the display from the MSM to blame EVERYONE but the shooter has been disgusting to behold. We now have members of congress that want to BAN SPEECH and BAN SYMBOLS? What? Increase security if you need to but banning speech will only make this situation worse.
If you give people NO other outlet but violence to get your attention and to air grievances then you will get violence. Much more violence.
The ousted Dems and those in the MSM talk about "uniting" our country and "bringing us back together again." Well I say then they need to practice what they preach. Blaming the GOP and threatening to ban speech is a really good recipe for causing MORE division, not less.
This very disturbed young man committed a crime. Let's let the rule of law deal with him the way it was intended to. For once we need our reps in Congress to THINK before they act.
In closing I would like to offer my condolences to the families of the victims who died and I continue to pray for the recovery of those who survived.
In the words of John Green, the father of the youngest victim 9 year old Christina Green: "We don't need anymore restrictions on our freedoms." "If we live in a country like the United States where we are free, we are subject to these things happening." "It's the price we pay."
Ironically, in a time of great chaos and uncertainty, his words of wisdom can speak to us all.

I would have liked to have seen Loughner kill 6 and wound 13 with a samuri sword. Somehow, I don't think it would have happened.
I can't blame you, I guess. It must be terrible, on some subliminal level, for you to see how ugly and dis-American some of your major beliefs are.
I'd be willing to bet that if you tabulated the number of deaths from guns during the 1994-2004 period and the number of deaths from automobiles in the same time period you would be surprised at the findings. Let's ban cars.
I don't want to ban guns, but I do think we'd all be safer if people like Loughner couldn't get guns.
Please don't link me to Malkin. She is one of the all-time great haters.
Comments like this are beginning to resonate with the public, which is coming to realize how vile is the effort to utilize this tragedy for political purposes.
Would banning guns make guns go away? Let's see...did Prohibition get rid of alcohol? Has our decades old prohibition on marijuana made it go away and really, has any of his to do with a very unstable, ill man who would have found any way, (legal or not), to do what he had planned to do?
Let's not make this into an excuse to punish everyone by taking away constitutional rights. Let's take this as an opportunity to look into our failing mental health system. Let's take this as a sign that we need to engage with our neighbors and coworkers; our students and our children. Perhaps we've fostered the attitude of all work and no play and have forgotten to pay attention to people in our lives and have been missing the clues to those who are crying for help and perhaps even those that need institutionalized.
Let's not take this as an excuse to point fingers politically or fundamentally. Rather, we need to realize that we live in a free society where we already have a system of checks and balances that will punish those who have broken the law. Isn't it naive to think that we can prevent every crime by passing a new law?
I still say, this could very well be a third party instigator, such as a lone Anarchist, that wants violence to erupt in America between Conservatives and Liberals. Anarchists are just waiting and drooling for this to happen.
I'm not a fan of guns; methinks we're a little too fond of them in this country. Nonetheless, they are legal and I take the Second Amendment to mean what it plainly says (though states do have leeway to regulate guns, I believe) . Moreover, guns shouldn't be the primary focus here.
The first question we should instead be asking ourselves is how Loughner was left floundering alone until he quite predictably hurt himself or someone else? Then, only after that has been answered, how was he able to buy a gun, ANY gun? Surely we don't believe that people as sick as this young man is should have guns, do we?
Overall, a post with sound points. Rated.
By the way, the sue of the word "crap" to dismiss an argument is another fallacy of logic.
That said, this guy should not have had a firearm. There were way too many warnings with way too many organizations that went unheeded. One thing I would be for is tighter regulations on making sure someone is not having serious mental issues before allowing them to own a firearm.

The delay in identifying the obvious in the Ft. Hood murders was extraordinary, with one MSM after another pleading the public not to "jump to conclusions." Nothing close to those pleas for restraint was forthcoming last weekend from your neck of the political woods.
I fear you're riding a very lame horse on this one.
I also think that this Sheriff that is making the rounds out there by blaming EVERYONE but the shooter is hiding something. Me thinks he doth protest too much. I have a feeling they will uncover that they knew this guy was dangerous and did nothing. That is why they are trying to deflect the blame now.
I posted on this a couple of days ago, but it has yet to receive its first comment. Oh, woe is me!
Keep up the good work.
Based on the aforementioned facts, fewer people would have been slaughtered if 30 shot clips were illegal. Why do you believe a 30 shot clip for a handgun should be legal? Is there any useful purpose served by a handgun with a 30 shot clip beside wholesale slaughter?
We don't have a gun problem in this country, we have a people problem. Then again, you can't legislate crazy.
You'd think that they were the ones that were shot from all the wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Obama's brave three little words last night, "It did not," will hopefully silence all the opportunists who chose to use an epic human tragedy to score cheap political points.
