You have to hand it to the man. He is doing what he does best: campaigning. For those of you who watched the speech last night and are all glowing with praise for what you heard I can only say: you got duped.
Obama is the quintessential political animal and he KNOWS how to work a crowd. He worked half the poluplation the last time around so he knows he can get people to follow him...if he appears sincere enough.
Now that the legs have stopped tingling and the gushing has subsided the truth about the "rally" has come out.
Obama USED a bit of information last night with the intent of playing on your emotions. He said:
I have just come from the University Medical Center, just a mile from here, where our friend Gabby courageously fights to recover even as we speak. And I want to tell you -- her husband Mark is here and he allows me to share this with you -- right after we went to visit, a few minutes after we left her room and some of her colleagues in Congress were in the room, Gabby opened her eyes for the first time. (Applause.) Gabby opened her eyes for the first time. (Sustained applause.)
Gabby opened her eyes. Gabby opened her eyes, so I can tell you she knows we are here. She knows we love her. And she knows that we are rooting for her through what is undoubtedly going to be a difficult journey. We are there for her.
Notice how many times he mentions: "Gabby opened her eyes." no less than 4 times. Do you think he wanted you to know that she opened her eyes? RIGHT AFTER HIS VISIT WITH HER.
However, THREE DAYS EARLIER on Sunday, The Tucson Sentinel reported the following:
“Giffords is in a drug-induced coma in intensive care,” the newspaper reported on Jan. 9. “Doctors frequently awaken her to check her responsiveness, and she could open her eyes and respond to simple commands Sunday -- an encouraging sign, said [Dr. Peter] Rhee.”
Not to be outdone some of the minions also added their explanations of what they saw to bolster these claims:
"It was extraordinary," said Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-New York, who was holding Giffords' hand at the time. "It was a miracle to witness."
"It was, as you can imagine, a glorious moment," said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who was also in the room.
The narrative has been set. The Messiah is back!!! The miracles are being seen once again. Notice the reminology used by the "witnesses": miracle and glorious.
However, the ghost of Rahm Emanuel must have also been in Tucson last night because right on cue Obama made use of Rahm's now famous advice:
"You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."
Indeed you don't and Obama learned his lesson well from his good buddy Rahm.
Some have even commented that the "memorial service" took on an unusual pep rally type feel after a while.
"Many of us in the TV audience tuned in to Tucson expecting a solemn service memorializing the dead and wounded. So it was jarring at first to find an atmosphere more like a pep rally, even a campaign rally. David Gergen, CNN senior political analyst
"Some at home might have been a bit surprised at how uplifting, all the cheering, all the clapping, and having been here for a few days, as you travel across the town, as you go into the coffeeshops, as you're at the hospital where Congresswoman Giffords is still hospitalized, and some of the other victims, makeshift shrines in different places across the city, there's a lot of crying in Tucson the past few days. John King, CNN chief national correspondent
Obvious catching himself and wanting to clarify his admiration for Obama, King went on to add:
"There's a lot of stunned, shocked silence in Tucson the past few days. And I think on this night, after five horrific days, this town needed to cheer."
Then there is the odd fact that the chairs in the auditorium, which was held at a college campus of course, were draped with blue T-shirts emblazoned with the Words: "Together WE Strive"
Sounds almost like a campaign slogan doesn't it? If I didn't know any better I would say that Obama took this opportunity to kick off his 2012 re-election campaign in Tucson with the whole nation watching.
How many of those T-shirts do you think will be spotted on campus in the coming re-election drive?Like I said, you have to give it to him. He's good, really good. He's just not authentic.
Obama is now and always will be the spokesman and CEO of Obama, Inc. We all know the brand but some two years into his presidency, none of us knows this man.

You know that it took him several of those 12 hours to count up to the four instances of "Gabby opened her eyes".
And, then he had to actually write it.
Give the guy a break.
But I have to hand it to you for writing one of the most cynical posts I've ever read. However, you're nowhere near as cynical as I became after 8 years of George W. Bush.
If you want to be taken seriously, I suggest avoiding that "messiah" talk. I have never heard anyone who wasn't a right wing whack job use that term.
