I am so tired of waiting for the French to figure out the Muslim veil thing that I’m offering the solution, free. You’d think a country renowned for fashion would have developed an acceptable frenchified Burka about five years ago. All the yelling about women’s rights, freedom of expression and cultural values must have clouded their minds. From the safe distance of about 6,000 miles, the concept was immediately apparent.
What the French need to do is recognize that both of their primary values must be respected: objectification of women’s bodies and cultural purity. Hence, the Burquette. It protects its wearer’s identity and promotes appreciation of the female form, all while assuring passersby that explosives are absent.
The model illustrated here is for summer wear. The winter model features a skintight vinyl cat suit from the neck down. Transitional season versions offer hot pants and tank top options.
Who says you can’t merge cultural traditions?
