Looking for a creative gift idea for the little ones on your gift list? I always think books are a great idea, and found a great resource of books you may not be able to find at your local bookstore.  The nonprofit Children's Book Press has a wealth of books for children, with stories about different cultures.  They are offering a special free shipping offer for the holidays.  My kids have enjoyed learning about their own and other cultures from some of these books.  I think this is a great way to stimulate a love of reading and to open kids' minds to the world around them.  Here is more information from Children's Book Press:

Mission

Founded in 1975, Children's Book Press is a nonprofit independent publisher that promotes cooperation and understanding through multicultural and bilingual literature, offering children a sense of their culture, history and importance.

Vision

Children's Book Press is the only nonprofit, independent press in the country focused on publishing first voice literature for children by and about people from the Latino, African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, and Native American communities. We promote lived and shared experiences of cultures who have been historically under-represented or misrepresented in children's literature while also focusing on promoting inter-cultural and cross-cultural awareness for children of all backgrounds. Children's Book Press literature provide tools that help build healthy children, families, and thriving communities for generations to come.

Very interesting. Thank you!
I think this source is especially helpful for anyone who wants to introduce multicultural literature to their kids, but lives far from either coast or a big city. I appreciate the variety of perspectives.
Your children's librarian should be extremely helpful. She or he probably has reference books on this subject. When my girls were young, I always subscribed to the Interracial Books for Children Bulletin. Unfortunately it is no longer published.
