We're coming to the close of the first week of 2011-- how are you doing with your resolutions?
I am pleased to report that I have kept my one resolution so far. My resolution was to try to see the positive in at least one challenging moment per day. I thought about this on New Year's Eve, as I drove on the highway to work. I was not happy about having to get up before dawn to go to work that day, but my mood changed as I drove by the San Francisco Bay and saw the beginning of a beautiful sunrise. I realized that if I hadn't been scheduled for work, I would have still been sleeping, and I would have missed that heavenly sight.
My younger daughter made a booklet of New Year's Resolutions in her first grade class this week. I've written about her before. She's the little rascal who got involved in a Halloween candy controversy with her friends in kindergarten and who previously crashed (accidentally) another child's princess birthday party at the playground.
In her booklet of resolutions, she shows her more serious, introspective side, with statements that are sweet and simple.
I would be happy if she can follow through with any of these:
1. I want to pay attention at school.
2. I want to learn how to brush my teeth more.
3. I want to make more friends.
4. I want to learn more how to play the piano.
5. I want to learn how to behave more.
6. I want to learn how to crack [an] egg.
This is for you, Marcie! (the little rascal's former kindergarten teacher)

Hi Leon, oops, I better clarify who Marcie is. She was the little rascal's kindergarten teacher last year. I also want her to continue to have a long, happy, fulfilled life.
Algis, that is a fantastic resolution! And the same to you. I guess I need a second resolution now-- to start posting more often.
