The emotional ups and downs of job hunting

Rate: 4 Flag

The day after my seemingly promising interview, I got a generic "thanks but no thanks" email from the company. Devasted, I emailed the manager, who is an acquaintance, and asked "does this mean I was eliminated?" He said no, they hadn't made any decisions yet, and I almost immediately got an email from HR, copying both managers, saying it was an error and that I was still very much being considered.

A few hours later, I got a voice mail from HR saying I was still strongly being considered, it was an error, and I was a very, very strong candidate.

So after getting my hopes dashed by an email, I'm now trying to stay positive, to remind myself that I'm at least being considered, and trying not to read too much into the "very, very strong candidate." Even being labeled as such, I know they haven't met everyone and it still could go either way. But I'm hopeful!

Good luck! Try not to stress. Read Scuppers blog today, it's very calming.
Still in my thoughts dogmom!
Oh, boy. It's horrible to get conflicting info. (Which is what I've been getting at my own job for four months. Will there be layoffs or won't there?) Well, take a breather. Make a stiff drink. Let us know how it goes.
Hang in there. Don't make too much out of the mistake, nor the kind words following it.

We're all rooting for you here.
You would think they might be a little more careful about those kinds of letters. Good luck, hope you do get it and that it is not a mistake.
