Here’s our entire family cheering on the Boston Red Sox during Game 1 of the American League Championship Series. CCC (and other OS members of the Nation), we took this photo for you. We know the BoSox are now in a bit of a tight spot, but it’s no worse than in 2004 and we never give up until it’s over (ask the Yankees and the Cardinals)! Sasha Weasel joins CCC’s Orion in a hopeful “VWoof” (victory woof).
We were staying in a motel in Richmond IN while visiting our alma mater Earlham College where we’d been asked to photograph the women’s volleyball team. Our older son James (a sophomore at Earlham) plays men’s club volleyball, serves as men’s club convenor, assists at the women’s practices, and announces the women’s matches as part of work study. Here he is wearing his "Athletes for the Cure" Breast Cancer Awareness shirt, surrounded by the appreciative Earlham College Women’s Volleyball Team. Congratulations on beating Kenyon! Way to go, Quake!

Otherwise, that hat sure looks cute on you! Can't wait to see your Halloween Costume!
Ciao Ciao!
Not giving up yet, but Orion spent most of last night in his flat against the floor Boxer pose. I felt like joining him there :-(.
And thank you for posting the picture of James and the volleyball team in their Breast Cancer Awareness shirts. We have more than a passing acquaintance with Breast Cancer (see my latest post in the section titled "Music") and are so thankful that so many people (at least for a month) are working so hard to raise awareness.

Btw, James must have the best work study job on the planet.
We know the odds are against us and the Rays may shell us again tonight. If they do, we'll tip our hats to them and wish them luck in the Series.
I'm the third of four generations of BoSox fans in both my and my husband's family, though, and for us it's not a fair-weather proposition. A lot of people hate Boston now because they think of them as the new Yankees. I beg to differ. I've spent most of my life accepting sympathy for being a Boston fan, one of those people genetically cursed to root for a team that always choked in the post-season. 1967 and 1986 are vivid family memories. I have a long-term outlook. My mother waited 81 years for her team to win a series. Winning twice in the past 85 years doesn't seem excessive to me. As for our Weasie, she's only gotten to chase her tail for one WS victory--she hadn't been born yet in 2004!
Contemplating Hallowe'en. Look for weasel birthday photo later today!
