Because she wanted to go on a mother-daughter trip with me
Because she worked out the whole trip to Alaska using all my suggestions
Because she chose a wonderful time and cruise ship and excursions
Because she understood my tears and snuffles on the helicopter glacier trip
Because she took a lot of pictures with my crappy camera for me (and of me)
Because she desired to be with me at meal times
Because she knew exactly the right wines to select
Because she was concerned about my health and helped me choose good things to eat, drink, and do
Because she pushed me (just enough) to exercise
Because she spent time with me at the spa
Because she found a way to live with my nighttime “activities” and not complain
Because she enjoyed the same music as I did (Ocean Lounge)
Because she wrote cute notes on the mirrors in our room and said I was beautiful
Because she was so sweet and pretty and I loved being with her and felt pretty myself in her company
Because she did things that wouldn’t have been her choice but she knew they were mine (especially trivia)
Because she rummaged around in my purse to be able to give my card to the sout’ side man (with his own teeth and hair)
Because she took care of the luggage when I didn’t feel so well
Because she asked my opinion about her shopping choices
Because she took me to her friend’s barbeque
Because she bought crab and trout and crab and trout and crab and trout
Because she got me kleenex and tea and cough medicine and whatever to help me recover from the awful respiratory cold I caught
Because she misses me and I miss her when we are apart
And most of all, because she’s my daughter and I really care about her and I know she loves me.
