1) I make a mean chopped liver that everybody loves and I can no longer even TASTE it any more (not because I've lost my tastebuds) to see if it's salted properly.
2) I found a ridiculously restrictive food plan that really works for me and I don't even believe in it but I just do it anyway because it works.
3) My husband and I used to play word games that got so complex we'd get lost and forget what we were talking about.
4) The helicopter ride I took this summer to Taku Glacier was a high point in my life and I teared up and sniffled and cried throughout the whole flight there and back. It was s-o-o-o-o beautiful. I sang "America the Beautiful" in my head because it was too corny to do it outloud in front of the four other people in the helicopter but if it'd been just the pilot and my daughter and me, I'd have done it loud and proud.
5) I love clothes and buy way too many things. Sometimes they go directly into the giveaway pile because before I get a chance to wear them, I've outgrown them or lost weight. If I haven't worn a piece in a year, it gets donated.
6) I belong to a book club that has been meeting for about 10 years now. We do talk about the book, sometimes for as long as 20 minutes. It's the BEST. BOOK. GROUP. EVER.
7) Three people I know personally have had long articles about them in the New Yorker.
8) I still hope to meet Mr. Right and live the rest of our lives together (under the category "Hope Springs Eternal").
9) I'm on Facebook mainly to play Scramble. I've gotten as high as seventh place.
10) I am very competitive, so much so that I can no longer take part in athletic contests of any kind, even a silly water volleyball game with my elderly friends in Aquablast classes, because I am too likely to hurt myself trying to get to the ball first or to better my own (shamefully poor) record.
11) I used to pick up hitchhikers in the 50's and 60's before I had kids because I got lonely when I drove long distances but I never felt afraid. Of course, I forbade my own children to do so (but whether they've followed my dictum is up for debate). Times have changed.
12) I've had 16 lovers in my life. I kept count. I don't count the one night stands.
13) Swimming in Lake Michigan naked is my favorite thing to do that I hardly think I'll ever have the chance to do again.
