- Just been writing forever and I always thought I was a better writer than I am but no matter, I write. Never thought I could paint but I love it so I do. Dancing and writing and painting fill me up. Some people think my kids are the most interesting part of me, and pretty much so did I until my late sixties. Now, I'M the most interesting part. I crack myself up! And I don't care so much whether I'm a great writer or artist or dancer or not, just so I do what I need to do - which is keep on writing and painting and dancing and living. To life! is my motto.

How I met my husband-to-be (updated)
I was a freshman in college. It was in early spring. I had been dating a young red haired man with the (to me) incredibly romantic name of James Llewellyn, oh, the Welsh. Though he’d been very respectful, I thought he was TOO reticent and a bore besides (hope he doesn’t… Read full post »
Tootsie

If I have to pick one movie that's my favorite of all time - I guess it's Tootsie.

Homemaker of Tomorrow

Gold-colored metal award brooch in the shape of three stalks of wheat with heart shaped pendant picturing a ranch house and yard in relief.
You probably won’t recognize this if you were born after 1960, but it’s my Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow award, which I store i… Read full post »
Best joke on the cruise
Just got back from Barbados and San Juan PR - the best joke I heard (I'm sure it's hoary as can be)

On mothers - I liked my comment so I blogged it
My mother was a liar and a egomaniac and I loved, loved, loved
her and forgave her when I was about 60 years old and she lived
another 6 years and it was much nicer even though she was dying
with Alzheimer's.
Two of my girls would say they love, love,… Read full post »
For Tom Cordle - a 1934 sedan delivery panel truck
I think they're the same thing - panel trucks and sedan delivery trucks. Someone older here??? Confirm or deny???
OS opens closed doors (or - "I guess it'd be OK to retire)
Since I found OS (11/26/08), I've gotten some great comments, but the most helpful have been “you go girl” and “keep on writing.” In the past, I’ve been discouraged in my efforts, from perhaps I could “write for children, something simple, maybe for American Girl&r… Read full post »
Panel trucks and hi-falutin' snobbery

This was pretty much my father's panel truck, except that ours was all black. He used it for deliveries from our dry cleaning store, so it was fitted with an iron pipe rack to hang the clothing (packed in paper bags) on. He also fixed it up with a removable… Read full post »
Hunting for ice cream and ribs
My father was a connoisseur of foods - pretty hard to be in white bread Peoria, especially since it was the late 40s, we had hardly any money, and his passions could hardly be called common. Chinese food (of the Cantonese variety, the only one known in those days), Jewish food… Read full post »
My "almost" real name
I'm not having much luck getting feedback, maybe because I'm not posting very much, just commenting. But perhaps if I use my "almost" real name...
I've changed my name quite a few times in the past 50 years. When I announce it, someone will be sure to ask me if I… Read full post »
Boys will be boys - Part I
I was talking to my massage therapist (more therapy than massage) last night and she asked me about how I met my (now deceased but long divorced) husband. In talking about presidential candidates who’d lost elections (namely, Adlai Stevenson) (we talk about EVERYTHING, none of this fucking spir… Read full post »

but I think the worst job I ever had was with an association - I should have known when I interviewed for it.
