(or Obama Remark on Black Scholar’s Arrest Angers Cops)
cops were mad when one of their own
a good guy in blue who took the mad professor
down
for yelling when they wanted to
arrest him for breaking into his
own home
and the man who was president
who was also black
used the word “stupidly”
as in the cop acted stupidly
and the cops had a message for that black
adverb using president—in fact
they didn’t like his stupid implication
that a cop didn’t have the right
to stupidly arrest a black man
without being called stupid.
if they weren’t mistaken, the president
wasn’t supposed to be black anyway
but post-racial and was it some kind of trick?
everybody knows even in 2009 men of inkier tone
are suspect while milkier men own their own homes & only pink
complexions can say “stupidly” so long as they pronounce it
“stooopidly”..and hey, was that guy they arrested supposed to
be smarter than the cops or something
smarter than anybody
because he owned that damned home
and taught classes at that damned school?
“Stupid,” the cops said and they said it in like the foul men
do on tv leaning in with their sour breath close against the suspect’s
bleeding ear.
“who you callin’ stupid?” they said, collectively,
(stupidly)
and the american news crews circled in and
reported all this and reported and
reported and
reported
all of
this
so stupidly.

This was a tremendous post. Thank you
The question and timing ensured that the focus would shift off-point, through the expected media blitz.
Can we now get back to healthcare reform, people? An issue that will affect every single one of us and our progeny for the foreseeable future? Timely, IMPORTANT POST, dolores.
--rrrraaaated--
i wrote this last night and this morning its still all over the news with the news heads saying that obama should apologize and the police chiefs saying the same thing. what I want to know is why white police officers must be given the benefit of the doubt...while black professors in their own home are not?
but of course this does serve the corporate media's aim of taking our eye off the ball when it comes to health care reform. so i guess it's targeted stupidity...
RATEDLY
Mr. Mustard: thanks for commenting. I'm all for intelligent travel. I wish police officers could travel in the shoes of those they racially profile. I'm sure it wouldn't be easy to face a lifetime of that sort of antagonism from law enforcement.
and was it just me or was there an oliver zhang just here offering me tall milfs? spammers in comments....I'm impressed that os filters made it go away. anyway, I prefer milfs to be short...
it's funny that this is just what the media liked about bush. message control. propeganda, messages that are not from the heart, are far more easily integrated and digestable.
But that's exactly why I still like obama though I don't agree with him on all the issues and probably never will. he has a heart and occasionally it slips out in the words he says. and thank god for that. but for this the media can't bear it. he must pay....ug.
latethink: glad you found this fun too. we have to have fun or else we'd start crying. meanwhile how many people die each year because they can't afford to see a doctor? too bad poor people aren't as worthy of a news story as a gotcha moment for a politician. it's lipstick on a pig, it is!
Personally, I love the mostly made up word 'shittily' heh heh An adverb to remember
but odetteroulette I can't believe that shittily is anything but an authentic adverb. Sometimes there is no better word to use. How else could you say it but: the Blue Dog Democrats are shittily opposed to passing the health care reform bill? Or Newt Gingrich shittily called Sotomayor a racist and later, shittily, tried to walk it back...?
this is exactly why i love vocabulary lessons!
Without a doubt, the cop acted stupidly. Most of us suspect he was a stupid guy, but even smart people occasionally do stupid things.
I would follow you anywhere
but you won't lead
someone like me
for sure
oh, well
back to my stupid life
This story has legs, so you know there is SOME subtext we're all stepping around.
Keep in mind that I'm in health care, so until just a few moments ago, I thought it was one of those B&W prints of a mammogram.
I can see a breast in the picture, painfully flattened by the mammography equipment and x-rayed.
Now I see the globe (I think). God do I feel stupid sometimes. Or maybe just an old pervert.
