Third of 3 posts of photos fromOccupy Grand Junction, the first event in the state of Colorado outside of Denver, so far. Similar actions are planned soon for Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Pueblo, among other Colorado Communities. I suspect we will see action in Glenwood Springs and Aspen areas, as well. The movement has spread from the metro areas to the rural farmlands and conservative rural strongholds. One local concern that urban activists may not share is an insistence on supporting local small businesses against the big chains and box stores, and being "locavores", that is, buying and consuming local foodstuffs, thereby avoiding over-processed food from big corporations and supporting local, often organic, farmers. The coming snow season will end outdoor demonstrations so it will be a challenge to use the winter months wisely to build the movement through publicity and constant networking.
[r] "have job, still pissed!!!" love it! thanks, Donegal! libby
My husband Bob lived in Grand Junction before moving here and we have enjoyed your reporting from there. Good to see real grassroots OWS participation and not just on the coasts.
