Bio
Married for thirty six years and the mother of the two grown children, I began writing at the age of ten. My first success was winning a poetry contest in grammar school. From that moment forward, I realized that the written word was as vital to my survival as food and air. I am presently working on two books, one of which I hope to finish before I die. A number of my poems have graced A Long Story Short, and I have been published in the Lucidity Journal. Each day inspires me...what I see, hear and experience.... if it stays in my mind, I write about it. __________________________________________ "To believe in something not yet proved and to underwrite it with our lives: It is the only way we can leave the future open." "IT DON'T GET BETTER THAN THIS"

CONCERT REVIEW

Jupiter, Fl: If you happened to be traveling along Indiantown Road and U.S. One on Saturday evening, August 27th, and wondered where all the music and laughter were coming from, you had to look no further than the Burt Reynolds Institute for Film and Theatre. Those happy people filling the parking lot outside the Burt Reynolds Museum were the result of gentle stroking by the soothing voice of none other than my favorite singer/songwriter, Cooper Getschal. Getschal’s concerts never fail to please no matter what one’s taste in music may be. Country, jazz, rock, blues – everyone left with a smile on his/her face and a song on their lips. My hands were sore from clapping so hard, and it seemed I said, “Oh, that one’s my favorite after every number.”

One of the most endearing qualities of Getschal’s writing is the infusion of personal experience. There is so much truth in his lyrics, whether he is singing a love song or a naughty little ditty, listeners can’t help but relate. On stage, he exudes an aura of commonality with his audience. He is one with them. He has known their joys and their sorrows. He understands their fears, their desires and their dreams.

Getschal paid tribute to his late mother, also a songwriter. There was such tenderness when he spoke that her influence on him was impossible to miss. During the evening, Coop, as he is known to his friends, did not hide his own insecurities and disappointments. His dialogue with the gathered crowd was witty, intelligent and telling. This is a man who has known both success and disappointment – a man who has taken the lessons learned and grown wiser for them. His fans appreciate his honesty and show their gratitude by following him from venue to venue.

Since Getschal’s 90 minute show requires no special equipment, he and his guitar can easily and cost effectively perform in the privacy of someone's home, providing a powerful yet intimate night's entertainment. If you are planning a holiday get together, and you want to WOW! your guests, contact Cooper Getschal at 561 262-4078 or www.facebook.com/getcoop.

As for me, I never get tired of playing one of his many CDs. While I dictate this review into my tape recorder, “When it snows in Alabama in July” is filling my office with sweet memories of days past and days yet to come – the same kind of memories a CooperGetschal concert will create for all who attend.
