- Married for thirty six years and the mother of the two grown children, I began writing at the age of ten. My first success was winning a poetry contest in grammar school. From that moment forward, I realized that the written word was as vital to my survival as food and air. I am presently working on two books, one of which I hope to finish before I die. A number of my poems have graced A Long Story Short, and I have been published in the Lucidity Journal. Each day inspires me...what I see, hear and experience.... if it stays in my mind, I write about it. __________________________________________

Once a Catholic - Always a Catholic
It is impossible for me, the daughter of a diehard Catholic father, to deny that twelve years of parochial education have not had an effect on me. If my math is correct, by the time I graduated high school I had attended 624 Sunday masses and heard an equal number of… Read full post »

Vanity: Thy name is Hollywood

An Associated Press article out of Pennsylvania yesterday dealt with the arrest of Monsignor William Lynn, who from 1992 to 2004 served as clergy secretary under (former) Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua. He is charged with endangering children by allegedly transferring predator priests from parish to par… Read full post »
Parole for John Rydberg? - Not under any conditions!
Let’s talk about John Rydberg, who for the past two decades has been a guest at a Minnesota State Correctional facility. Rapists on Parole: Who will protect us?
Last year, at the age of 14, Bobby Martinez, Jr. of Belle Glade, Florida kidnapped and repeatedly raped a ten year old girl. Martinez did not know this child. She was a stranger to him as he was to her. Yet, without reason, he brutalized her in the… Read full post »
Commuting: An "Ass" tonishing Experience
The life of a commuter is a tedious repetition of the same roads/same (idiot) drivers/same epithets issued daily – morning and evening – and requiring the ability to zone out in order to clock in. The quest for a paycheck that barely covers essentials demands that I adhere to this routine… Read full post »
Old Habits Die Hard -- Old Prejudices, Too

Burt Reynolds: Living his life his way
To listen to Burt Reynolds talk about his life is to be welcomed into the warm embrace of an old friend. At least, that’s how the 500 people who filled the Lyric Theatre (Stuart, Florida) to capacity felt last night. This historic venue with its worn wood rafters and stucco… Read full post »

Will the elimination of Don't Ask/Don't Tell change anything
