Today the New York Times dropped the bombshell: Many of your favorite stars don't actually update their own Twitter accounts! It's true, these celebs are far too busy dealing with hangovers while clothes shopping for their next trip to the day spa to plunk down 140 characters on their crackberry. Come on peasants, didn't you know that this is what personal assistants are for?

These new world royal super-people (who are merely professional marketers) go around advertising that the Twitter phenomenon creates an opportunity for a personal connection between them and their adoring pleebs. So, doesn't it seems a bit disingenuous to hire a freakin' ghostwriter to do something as brainless as shoot out the occasional Tweet for them. I understand that someone like Barak Obama might be a bit too busy trying to save the world to update his Twitter account and I'd expect his followers to realize this. But should fans of rapper 50 Cent be subjected to the "poetry" his errand boy named Broadway passes off as genuine 50 Cent prose?

Perhaps most of these stars need ghostwriters for something as simple as a Twitter update for the even simpler reason that they may damage their brand if they actually communicate what is going on in their pea brains to the unwashed masses.

Kanye West just hired two people to update his Twitter and blog saying that it's just how a designer would work. Huh? What does that even mean? Britney Spears, the person who just the other day wished her crowed a "Merry Christmas" during a concert performance, has been forced to look for help updating her Twitter and Facebook.

Yeah, these brainiac celebrity types are probably not doing themselves any favors by trying to communicate to normal folks in any way other than through a vocal synthesizer so in the name of something as honorable as saving the brand image, you stars go out and create some jobs. You gotta know that kids these days will rather to grow up and Tweet for Dakota Fanning instead of becoming a something useful like say, a scientist.
