#1 My momma always said, “Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get”- Forrest Gump 1994
Is life really like a box of chocolates? Are there so many choices in life that we have to pick the one that is most satisfying? Chocolate and life go hand and hand. There are different flavors of life, with different fillers. Yet, what chocolate do you reach for first?
The chocolate that you already know?
I mean its safe, its comfortable, and you know what it tastes like.
The chocolate that is aesthetically attractive?
We assume beauty is always first on the outside.
The chocolate that is square vs. circular?
Are we square, coming up against sharp edges that make us hesitant to turn, or are we a circle, constantly evolving, resilient to change?
The chocolate that is bumpy with nuts?
Hence my favorite, yet, I know its because I like a little crunch. A satisfying challenge at each bite.
As humans we are becoming less content with status quo. We are afraid to take risks, yet are willing to take a bite and put it back if we don't like it.
Has the world become a sea of chocolate? A tasting table for adventure, commonality or praise?
I want to challenge that. I want to know what it is we are afraid of. Has competition for life in general kept us from excelling? What makes you compete?
