#5 “True or False: All’s fair in love and war.” Andie - How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days 2003
Is all fair in love and war? Is there love without war, or war without love? I don't believe we can compete without love and war.
I can't imagine not bringing love into a competitive state because we do compete for love. Even though we say we don't. We create some form of war from it, and ultimately we either win or we lose.
Its the love of acceptance, the love of another, the love of ourselves that we strive to keep score of. I don't recall how many times I've asked myself.. "would I be in love with me if I wasn't me?". Seriously... who knows. Competition comes from the ability to recognize the obstacle. The ultimate challenge that makes us "lovable".
What does the world surround itself with? Images, songs, movies, and novels all about LOVE. How ambiguous is that word? Do you really know what LOVE stands for? I don't know.. Lack of Virtually Everything??? Ha.. Ha.. Ha.... its somewhat true come on, we lose all self control because of it. Throwing "I love yous" out like peanut shells during a ball game. Yet, we assume no one quite understands how quickly it can picked up and tossed away.
So.. I challenge you to think of the way you throw the word LOVE around. Are you consciously competing for attention so that word gives you the self gratification you are seeking? Or do you actually mean it, and compete for the love and acceptance of others subconsciously?
War is a competition. Each competitor has a different goal. Is your goal to win at love or lose? If you've already won then maybe you've been through enough wars to see the difference. But, you can't lose something you've never had.
