#6 “Have you ever gotten the feeling that you aren’t completely embarassed yet, but you glimpse tomorrow’s embarrassment?” Jerry Maguire 1996
Ok.. so this is case and point your inner competitive nature. How many times have you said something you regret? Are you a critic of your own words? We all can relate to being an idiot once and a while. We speak before we hear the words in our heads, we act before we realize we've already jumped, and we laugh even when its not funny... just because of awkward silence.
Open foot.. insert mouth.. WE ALL HAVE DONE IT!!!
But, do we compete with ourselves? How many times have you said..."did I just say that, or I can't believe I just did that"? The precursor that comes with embarrassment is not necessarily how others view our failures, but how we view our own perception of why we think we failed. If we didn't find embarrassment in ourselves, the world wouldn't be as accepting.
I often at times believe that people make mistakes to make others feel better. I see my mistakes as a challenge. I mean in a perfect world are we all fools? If we don't take risks in life, or risks within ourselves we can't relate to the world on a level where someone is keeping score. Nothing separates the two.
Are you most certain that life's biggest tragedies or failures were because people thought before they acted? Nope... we are products of our own awareness. Our own "caught you in an awkward situation" type of environment.
So.. just who deems a joke funny? Who says one person is smarter than the other? Who has never been embarrassed?
You have to recognize your weakest moments, and embrace those times when you are completely helpless. The world might not see your faults, but you know the next day it could come back and bite you in the ass.
