#68 “Never give up and good luck will find you.” Falcor - The Neverending Story 1984
This movie used to drive me insane. I couldn’t understand why this imaginative, incredible world had so much controversy. As I age, and re-live the never-ending story in my mind; its important to note that all Bastian wanted to do was find solitude and power. Well… maybe that was just my interpretation; but it was kinda obvious that a person’s worth was an internal struggle.
Can a story have a never-ending?
Is a far away world a dream of fantasy? Is a warrior a symbol of the brave? When we realize that stories generate truth in meaning of the world; we turn them into reality of the secrets we each hide. We turn the story into a book; then into a movie; then into conversation. Aren’t movies about conversation? Stories re-told in fantasy themed ideologies? If each of us is a hero; a saviorn or even a saint; what makes the weak less valuable, and the strong so powerful?
“All right! I’ll do it! I’ll save you! I will do what I dream!” - Bastian
To dream a dream, to save a life, to engage in battle; we make the bed we sleep in. We rest in the existence of what we know; where we find comfort and solace. If we continue to see the glass half empty or even half full; aren’t we seeing the world as a choice? An interpretation of something only the eye of the beholder can explain? We can make dreams become fantasy or reality. We can make imagination our greatest enemy.
“MOONCHILD!” - Bastian
But, we know ultimately that good luck isn’t about being at the right place at the right time; its about never giving up on a story in which you want to re-tell to your biggest warrior. It is about the never-ending memory of living an imaginative story and hand selecting your heroes. So, do you have a never-ending story? Are ready to experience it?
