"Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse, wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Gentlemen, as of this moment, I am that second mouse." Frank Abagnale, Sr.
- Catch Me if you Can 2002
Just how far would you go to get what you want? How long would you fight to win at purpose? When we discover we must sink or swim, we realize we don't have much time to drown. Competition to beat ourselves and others in the pursuit of happiness comes with a price tag. It comes with a choice. I choose to win, because I hate to lose. I want power, yet, I won't get anywhere churning in failure.
Needless to say, are you the first mouse or the second?
There is a line we walk each day. We tempt to cross it, we abide by it, and we are directed by it. Stepping outside the line, making a few wobbly steps; we are not only testing our own will; we are testing our limits. There is a thin line between right and wrong, especially when someone deems you wrong. If we all sat back and let the line dictate our lives, we wouldn't get anywhere.
So, did the mouse churn that cream into butter and walk out? Did the mouse take the situation by the balls?
As we continue to walk, we are distracted by the obvious. The air we breathe, the wind on our face, the smell of our surroundings. As we take bigger steps, and a leap of faith, we come to realize that we're still standing. We are in another place, contemplating another perspective.
Look around, wake up and smell the coffee. This is your conscious speaking. Do you have the ability to get out?
Life is about impressions, first impressions. It is what it is. We can choose so many different paths. We can outsmart our competitors by stepping outside our boundaries, or we can lose to our competitors by running in circles. The minute you feel like you are drowning.. you better start kicking...
