"You lack the courage of your convictions sir, do it."
Louis - Interview with the Vampire 1994
Vampires. There is some kind of fascination with eternal life, and blood and darkness that intrigues people into intimacy with the vampire obsession. I, seem to coarse to say, that I honestly don't find the fascination; however, it is the largest growing obsession surrounding life, lust and intimacy. Teenagers for decades have embraced vampire dramas and the stories continue to be told, and re-told by adults to embrace youthful living . If a vampire offers some sort of intrigue to the human mind; would we continue seeking the sadness that actually surrounds a vampire? Are vampires struggling with their mortal choice?
"Forgive me if I have a lingering respect for mortal life" - Louis
Back in 1994, Interview with the Vampire hit theaters, and it showed a high profile actor; Tom Cruise and a vulnerable child; Kirsten Dunst seeking compassion, even solace within surrounding circumstances. As we look back on the hype surrounding this film; we notice that the theme of eternal life and sexuality bring mortality into priority. Morality is about your convictions; your desires; and your intimacy within your own life. Once morality is offered; do you bite; or do you turn away and let someone bite you?
" The world changes, we do not, there lies the irony that finally kills us." - Armand
It is definitely true that the world around us changes faster than the life we lead. It is of utmost certainty that if one had to choose eternity; would we have to incur avant-garde? Is the experiment of life, the passion for a vampire? How many times have you seen a vampire film, television show, or novel? Human beings find a unique interest in the hope for eternal life, love, and companionship. We want to belong, we try to unveil our motives; yet we lack the courage to take the soul of another.
When we want to erase those demons; when we want to find solitude; we collide our feelings about the lust for life that intrigues us to never end the passion.
We forget that a vampire seeks to find happiness. We don't realize that a vampire is categorized as a soul seeker. A vampire seeks out their prodigy to incur selfish re-birth. If a vampire expresses their story; and a struggling soul finds compassion, are we doomed to say that blood becomes the catalyst? If we could tell the world our convictions; if we could express to our loved ones' souls our struggles; would we be offered eternal life and happiness?
I don't know about you... but, it is difficult enough to find solitude within ones mentality. If the hope for eternal life weighs on using the soul of another for the extension of morality; I don't know if I could bite; I don't know if I have the thirst for it.
