"I am Lieutenant John J. Dunbar and this is my post."
John Dunbar
Dances With Wolves 1990
In each thought we perceive a resolution. In each moment of time, we imagine what life would entail if we only knew what our struggles were with one another. As we create life's grand master plan in our daily presumptions of humanity; we realize that it is just as interesting to be someones shadow; as it is to be a part of something big.
"I was just thinking that of all the trails in this life, there are some that matter most. It is the trail of a true human being. I think you are on this trail, and it is good to see. " - Kicking Bird
Sometimes we seek motivation and acceptance from those we know the least; sometimes we want affirmation and reception from those we know the most. I often at times struggle the internal assumption that life is just that; a status ranked people pleasing acceptance model of conformity. Well, at least it appears to be.
Becoming a friend; a comrade; a lover; a mentor; a hero or even a part of someones soul is like becoming the soil to the ground; the tree to the sky; the oxygen to our lungs... it is survivability.
When we provide confidence and validity in human interaction; we imply that life exudes formalities. I, as a curious one, seek the injustice and obstacles in each element of humanism. I seek to find the purpose and passion in ones portrayal of reality. When faltered at the idea that life is made up of individuals that are instantly seeking resolution, answers or combating of problems; we find that living in the moment becomes living in a static event of time; its become all we know.
As a culture, mixed in with history, traditions, generations and stories, we as a society wish to conform; however, sometimes its on our own terms, and often not on the terms of another.
When pushed to make a choice, are we making choices based on our personal opinion, or the opinion of stereotypes, assumptions and hear-say? If we had to change our ways, and interpret communication on a level that is superior to inferior; are we saying that authority is more powerful than accepting our own circumstance?
We must break habits to create staples for our future generations. We must raise havoc to intercept anomalies and retraction from oppression. Standing tall; walking slowly; and living in the moment will allow us to quantify our worth. However, jumping instantaneously, speaking too loudly and ignorantly would only lead to incompetence in thought and poor quality of life.
I think therefore I speak; I speak therefore I think.
Think about it; are you approachable? Do people come to you for confirmation or maybe affirmation? If the message in Dances with Wolves was to portray how bias and neglect are detrimental to ones soul; have we begun to realize that all it takes is a little understanding? That once we put our perceptions aside we can join others in their understanding?
"The strangeness of this life cannot be measured: in trying to produce my own death, I was elevated to the status of a living hero." - John Dunbar
Heroism is a widely known term for those that become important out of a courageous act or unselfish reward; when we open our minds to the thought that heros are made not assigned, we feel confident in knowing that someone has shown us the true meaning of validity.
If I had a chance to make my life a frontier; I would portray myself as graduating through life while tackling the challenges.
My name would be: Writing in the Stars. I know I must dream it, therefore to make it happen, it must be written. What would your name be?
