Fear 1996
In every up and down, there is an edge towards an accomplished goal. In every excuse, there is a motive to the action behind someones agenda. In fear there is a hesitation before the jump, and repercussions in the result after you've achieved your goal. We must face our fears, or become closeted hypocrites.
If I fear, do I stop before I jump; yet know I will strive in motion if I took the leap?
Someone told me that their day is like a roller coaster; highs and lows; turns and drops; upside down tummy turning gasps of breathless air, and a gradual stop. Yet, we continue to sit in our roles, buckle in our seat belts and risk our fears when something is on the line. The initial acceleration guides the day, and the motion defines the choice.
"Yes we are. That's what this whole thing's about, Steve. Your inadequacies. Your fears." - David McCall
This film; even though it surfaced on the concept of an obsessive boyfriend, and a dangerous jealous rage of a rejected man; the fear of the woman, was in something/someone she already knew. Think about this for a minute; do we think about fear when we think we are most comfortable? Do we enlist in second thought about something or someone while in the motions of something we are most familiar with, or do we wait for the drop in motion, or immediate turn when we least expect it, to define fear?
When life becomes a routine; a broken record or even a typewriter with keys that are always stagnant; do we trust the knowing more than we trust the mechanism of the process?
I explore competition on more of ones own self exploration; ones own self actualization. When fear is a competitive surprise; do we know what we would do if we had to face it? Rage, anger, ignorance and hesitation are words that describe how we look and react to fear.
I am curious if risk is as general as fear, or if fear is just risky.
The challenge of a man is often at times viewed as the accomplishment of a goal. When the goal turns out to be conflicting to your assumption; you compete the choice you made and ultimately banish the hunt for the next valid task. If we continue to seek roller coasters to test our fears; we might not enjoy the ride if we forget we are afraid of heights.
We might refuse to climb, because looking down means we have to face the decline.
Look outside a tall building today; or pretend you are in one. When you see that what separates you from the sky and the ground is you in your own head; you realize that the only way up or down is through your fears, or actions. I prefer to stay grounded with dreams in the sky, and put those dreams on the ground when the limits of fear are all exhausted.
I'm not saying to confront all fears; I'm just saying we must learn to recognize that fear is sometimes where we least expect it; and confronting them will take you through the motions.
