One Movie Line At A Time
Bio
Growing up loving movies, and quoting infamous lines, N. Jordan is about taking life's given competition and embracing it through movies quotes. Each posting reflects a personal understanding on how movies effect people, our lives and our fake realities. If life is a movie, why do we compete in so many ways? Sports, love, relationships, family, business, money, career, kids, etc. Its time to see who is keeping score. Because... life is sometimes an altered reality, just go at it one movie line at a time. My real name is Michelle Keifer. But, I've always wanted to talk about life through a guy's perspective. Just seemed so fitting as I've always been just one of the boys. Go New England Patriots!

Leonardo DiCaprio... ALL WEEK! Yep... his finest movies

Rate: 11 Flag

Leonardo DiCaprio by far has surprised us on film. He can play versatile roles and draw the audience in. I have posted blogs in the past from movies of his.

For instance: The Departed, Catch me if you Can, Titanic and Romeo + Juliet (links provided below).

This week we explore the films of Leo:

Blood Diamond, The Beach, Aviator, Gangs of New York, Body of Lies, and Revolutionary Road.

I look forward to showing you how the characters in each of these films are similar to life's greatest character.... the one in each side of you.

Leo has an astonishing resume, with films I haven't even touched on yet. Maybe life's competition will surprise me one day and one of his untouched films will be revisited and blogged about. I look forward to the works of his greatest supporter; Martin Scorsese. With Shutter Island as Leo's newest film, I'm sure we'll see more astonishing work. But for now, this week we'll all be in for a treat as we reflect upon his work.

Happy Reading.

Here are my previous Leo postings:

My two favorite DiCaprio performances are bar none "This Boy's Life" and "The Departed". I will say he is above all the "pretty boy" hype, and that's rare. "Gangs of New York" would be third for me. I just think "TBL" was such an unbelievably real performance at his age. He was not intimidated one bit playing opposite DeNiro...He's the Gary Cooper of my generation.

My favorites? "Revolutionary Road," and the first I ever saw, the "mentally challenged" kid brother in "Gilbert Grape." No kidding! I believed he was really just some kid they'd found in a special education class and given a fortuitous opportunity to appear beside Johnny Depp. Amazing performance!
I'm with Aunt Mabel "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" had Leo and Johnny. Great movie
Kind of Blue.. he is above all the pretty boy hype.. you are correct. It is rare to find a young hollywood star age with grace and admiration for audiences to enjoy. I think he owes a lot of his depth to Martin Scorese and of course his successors and mentors along the way.
Dorian.. the Growing Pains.. yes, he was so young and so talented. It was rare to see such a youth with such great stage presence on a show that had such a great storyline. It makes me reflect on all that Tracey Gold went through during that time. Thanks for your comment.
Aunt Mabel.. so true.. Juliette Lewis drove me nuts too!! Its like she is always the same troubled skitzy person in her roles. Didn't she date or hang around Brad Pitt? Hmmmm...
Keka... Revolutionary Road troubled me at first; but, I found the deeper meaning and intentions of the film to be astounding. He did well in such a deep role. As for your premonition on Gilbert Grape; that's awesome! Truely awesome! :-)
Nikki... I am for sure going to blog on What's Eating Gilbert Grape now.. I at first was hesitant, but, you are the third who's mentioned it. Thanks for pushing me to explore that film.
"Leonardo DiCaprio by far has surprised us on film."

Absolutely. I was surprised he did not win an Oscar for Blood Diamonds. He was also great in The Departed.

Blood Diamond and The Departed were incredibel.. Just think of his co-stars in all his films; they are legends, icons and veterans. Leo will continue the trend.
Thanks Thoth!
I never thought DiCaprio would be much more than a pretty face, but now I know better.
Yes, to "What's Eating Gilbert Grape!" Masterful performances, by a few! (I was friends with a man who had worked with these kids back then, and he had to ask me if Leo was an actor!)

And speaking of, and totally off-track, how can we devote ever so much more space to Johnny Depp!!! (And, yes, I'm a serious film fan!)
John I couldn't agree more... he's got a great director that adores him and co-stars that are intriguing to the public.

Julie.. wow, small world. I think you just inspired me to do a week devoted to Johnny Depp films. You rock girlfriend!
I am learning from these posts. Spotlighting artists is a fine thing to do. This man is a rare talent. This is my favorite post and I followed the links to the others.
Dr. Spudman... that was so great to hear! Thanks for your consistent support and I am grateful for your feedback!
This is going to be a fun week ahead talking about Leo's films.
much appreciated
Leo never did much for me...
Excellent post. I like Leo. He's consistently good and he's maturing all the time.
Gilbert Grape!!!! write about Gilbert Grape!!!
Brian B... I will convince you ;-)

Dear reader I married him... I utmost agree. The maturity in role growth is what makes me think he makes great choices. Shutter Island looks terrifying; but, he'll draw us in once again.

Thanks you both for the comments.
Ann.. I will!!! I will!!! Mid-week.
