One Movie Line At A Time
Bio
Growing up loving movies, and quoting infamous lines, N. Jordan is about taking life's given competition and embracing it through movies quotes. Each posting reflects a personal understanding on how movies effect people, our lives and our fake realities. If life is a movie, why do we compete in so many ways? Sports, love, relationships, family, business, money, career, kids, etc. Its time to see who is keeping score. Because... life is sometimes an altered reality, just go at it one movie line at a time. My real name is Michelle Keifer. But, I've always wanted to talk about life through a guy's perspective. Just seemed so fitting as I've always been just one of the boys. Go New England Patriots!

Tom Hanks

I adore Tom Hanks! He is one of those staple actors that consistently delivers to audiences while engaging in story lines by captivating us with his voice and stage presence.

I will be looking specifically into some of his films these next two weeks that challenge us as individuals to be brave, courageous, strong, powerful, idealistic and possess our own poise and character as we test our boundaries and step outside the box in our reality.

As you will see below.. I've posted many discussions about some of his most credible films: Apollo 13, Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Big, Catch Me If You Can, Toy Story, The Terminal and Sleepless in Seattle.  Please click on the links to enjoy as I begin my further look into the man I will always know as Forrest, and of course Josh Baskin, who just wanted to be "Big"!

Tom Hanks is one of those actors that improves his legacy by directing, producing and keeping his audiences engaged. Enjoy!

I will look into:

Turner & Hooch

You've Got Mail

Philadelphia

Castaway

A League of Their Own

The Green Mile

The DaVinci Code

The Polar Express

Charlie Wilson's War

Angels & Demons

That Thing You Do

Bachelor Party

Splash

Road to Perdition

I am with you on Tom Hanks, definitely.
Rated.
He the male counterpart of Merryll Streep in acting versatility. Rated.
Hanks is the best. And I never miss him on a talk show because he's always funny and ready to do anything, no matter how embarrassing, for a laugh.
Thanks Thoth.. he is amazing.

FusunA.. you said it perfectly. I have to focus on Merryl soon..

Cranky Cuss... I agree wholeheartedly... you are so right, he's so entertaining.
I Love Tom Hanks, too! Is there a kinder, more honest presence on screen?! Maybe not...
He's had such a great career, and who knew when he started out how broad a range he had as an actor? My favorite movies of his probably are Big, Apollo 13, Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, A League of Their Own, and of course the voice work he did for the Toy Story films.
I think that Hanks is the premier actor of his generation... another James Stewart. The opening scene of "Charlie Wilson's War," when Hanks is receiving an award, he doesn't say a word yet gives a clinic on how to act. Amazing.
For my money, Hanks is too easily dismissed as this generation's Jimmy Stewart. While Stewart was a fine person (at least by all accounts), his acting skills paled in comparison to Hanks'. That's no to fault Stewart -- like a lot of Hollywood types, he was frozen into a personae he simply replayed countless times. For my money, there was nothing in his resume to compare to Hank's performance in Philadelphia.
Julie.. I really don't think there is ....

Nick.. YES, who would have thought.. I couldn't believe how many films he has done. I've already posted 8 other movies of his and I added 14 to the list.. I don't know who can top his resume!

Roger.. I do agree.. James Stewart was a classic example of stage presence and stability on film. It amazes me that humble actors are far from in between and he is talented and smart and funny. Charlie's Wilson's War caught me off guard... but, that scene was intriguing.

Tom, I see the comparison and resemblance, but, true, very true... Philadelphia gave Hanks' another top notch charisma that Stewart cannot top. Nicely said. Thanks!!!
