One Movie Line At A Time
Bio
Growing up loving movies, and quoting infamous lines, N. Jordan is about taking life's given competition and embracing it through movies quotes. Each posting reflects a personal understanding on how movies effect people, our lives and our fake realities. If life is a movie, why do we compete in so many ways? Sports, love, relationships, family, business, money, career, kids, etc. Its time to see who is keeping score. Because... life is sometimes an altered reality, just go at it one movie line at a time. My real name is Michelle Keifer. But, I've always wanted to talk about life through a guy's perspective. Just seemed so fitting as I've always been just one of the boys. Go New England Patriots!

#190 "Madagascar"... escaping animals, oh my!

Rate: 3 Flag

"Whoa! Hold up there a second, fuzzbucket. You mean like, uh, the "live in a mud hut, wipe yourself with a leaf" type wild?"

Alex the Lion

Madagascar

2005

Animals escaping captivity to embrace the wild? Wait... isn't that breaking the cardinal rule? Aren't we supposed to bring animals out into the wild in stages? Aren't animals coming from the wild, while becoming a part of captivity welcomed into a zoo or compound for the people to enjoy? If an animal belongs with its kind and an animal isn't born into the wild, how, just how will they escape what they know and adjust from being in captivity in pursuit of doing what is of instinct?

Madagascar is one of those films that takes an animals perspective and adds a few twist and insight to an animals plight to see the world outside a cage.

This story takes place in New York. This story, along with its great character voices lends a warm hearted feel about animals and their desires to just be themselves. What I adored about this film was the inability of the animals to know the unknown. The concept of expect whats unexpected while embracing circumstances that surround you, is appropriate, and of course fitting for such a film about friendship.

Animals and humans are so similar. We all thrive off of food, love, shelter and attention. Most of all, we seek comradery. We seek outlets and knowledge of friendship.

This tale embarks on a friendship mission to rescue one of their own after an animal has escaped captivity. Friendship is just like that. Someone falls and there is someone to pick you up. Someone is happy and the other person is able to share in that excitement. Someone needs attention and the friend is willing to offer up an ear.

Aside from the humor in this film and the perspectives, Madagascar gave us a chance to value our roots, embrace where we came from and who've we become. If life's lessons are to escape the reality every once in awhile to find the appreciation in what we have, perhaps all it takes is a willingness to step outside ones comfort zone.

Michelle, this is another enjoyable film that I saw in the theater with my sons when it first came out. Now that they are older there is no interest on their part in a lot of films of this genre, but since I never grew up I still enjoy them! As with your other reviews, I appreciate your perspective on the film.
designanator... it was truly sweet and charming indeed. I finally saw it awhile ago. Having a 3 year old helps put things in perspective.. that imagaination does run wild and its okay to dream.
Thanks for your continued positive feedback!
MJ -- Thanks for this fun one -- with such sweet lessons on friendship -- and valuing who we are!!
I actually saw that film, don't ask me where. Love your review.
